Gee, I wonder if I'll be invited? Probably not since Robert decided long ago that I don't fit in with his agenda even though he's never even met me. At least I'm not the only one.

Hmm, I am completely unaware of what "decided long ago" means, or is referring to, so I will just say this:

The Polar Bear is not an invitational and it never has been. If you register, you will be welcome, but required to act like a mature adult while at the event or you would be asked to leave. I don't expect that to happen, since we have never had an issue like that or never asked anyone to leave.

So if you want to come, register, and have fun. Then you can come back and either change your tune a bit or keep on flaming, up to you.

I have been to two Polar Bears. They are the best events I have ever been to. The Garcia family rocks! They work hard to put this event on and make sure everyone is having a good time. I have met life long friends through wakesurfing and don't know of another sport where people are so friendly and willing to share their expensive boats and boards with each other.

I would love to come south, but I will probably be working. You should plan next year's PB up here in Manitoba, the southern part; you will have all the water and lakes to yourself! Maybe you will have to if the drought continues? You might even need a wet-suit (dry-suit) to keep warm! After the event is done, then we can all head north to see the real PBs getting ready for the ice to come in and begin the seal hunt. Just a thought or dose of reality. Enjoy.

Dang, Nick! Relax buddy! Surfing is about being chill, not hating on someone because they are playing for and promoting a team that they love.

Nick, you should go to the event so that you can meet them in person and see how passionate and dedicated their whole family is to the sport. Without them, the EWT events probably wouldn't happen or if they did, they wouldn't have live feeds broadcast on the internet. The Garcia's drive hundreds to thousands of miles with their truck and Z3 completely packed to the gills with equipment and spend hours into the middle of the night setting up and then get limited sleep, sit out in the hot sun all day running a competition all for the good of the sport, not themselves. They are the most committed family I have ever seen, every single family member is working their butts off for other people to enjoy themselves. Once you know them, you would scoff at your own comment.

We will be sending out the full questionnaires soon to all signed up riders. Stay tuned.

We have an awesome line up of boards and finishing our line up of boats. The confirmed boats are:

new Axis T22 with SG
new Nautique G21 with NSS
new Supra SE with Swell
new Tige Z3 with AVX

We are trying to confirm a centurion FS33 direct from Centurion, but haven't finalized it yet. If you want to see that boat, feel free to let them know!

My only concern will company sponsored boat is they'll just send you a stock boat and given that there is not PnP option for the MB yet, we'll get a stock 23 with no additional bags. We all know that is not adequate.

Wakedirt, there is no board in the Victoria line up that rides much like the Calibrated Piscus. The Agent has a wide swallow tail, but rides very different in my opinion (more of a beginner/cruiser board IMO).

I think you will be pumped on the boards.

Northern CA lake by Vacaville. Water levels are low but there are a few launch ramps still usable.

Stoked for some skim representation by Victoria. I love my Agent board! A 6 time world champ rides this beginner/cruiser shape!

The Agent is definitely a great board and is capable of a lot maneuvers, but it was designed with beginner to intermediate riders in mind.
The pixie is a little bit different shape than the Agent.

I didn't mean to derail this thread. You will be able to get to know the boards well at the polar bear!

Nick, Polar Bear is not a competition but a social experiment with boards and boats.

Ahhhh, it is getting closer....I am getting excited. I know there are 3 houseboats full and at least 6 cabins full of people coming from:
Canada, Georgia, Texas, Nevada, Washington, Arizona, Wisconsin, California.

There will be some people there with their own boats. They have even called and booked lodging as they are saying they are with the event. People with their own boats will not have access to the boats and boards in the event. They will be free to be around after the days riding to ask questions or sit in and check out the boats and or boards.. We will be on a tight time line to get all the riders behind all the boats. It is a big lake and there is plenty of space for other boats to ride.

The boats are looking good and here is a list of some of the boards we have lined up....

Mitch. I had an older 52" Factor that i ended up trading for a beginner board for my wife. I'm 5'10" 175lbs and I found the board pearl too easy for me unless I'm super careful but really enjoy the playfulness of the board. With polar bear coming up, I'd like to give it a second shot and appreciate your thoughts in terms of size. Would the 55" too big for me?
Old     (wakemitch)      Join Date: Jun 2005       09-29-2014, 10:11 AM Reply
What year was it? We had a big overhaul in 2012, and since we have made tweaks each year.

At 175 I think you would really like the 50" to be honest. I'll make sure you get on them at the polar bear and I'll be there to go over the line with everyone interested.

Any update on additional boats?

Not sure of the official launch date. I do know these three as well as
all the boards at the event will be for sale after. We will have contact info as
well as prices sent from the manufacturers at the event. They are
very good deals if you find one that calls your name.

As far as boats... That is the other side of the house and my info is a couple of
days old. My most current info is we should hear from Pavoti in the next day or two.
Centurion is working on a new FS 33. My info is the boat is on the production
line. If it is finished it will make it. Like I said this is not as of today and I am
not working with the boat manufacturers.

I hope this works out. It would be nice to have one of the most talked about
wakesurf boats in the industry there for everyone to try.

I am really hoping for Pavoti as well. I remember them there a couple of years ago.
Beautiful workmanship and a fun boat. I can only imagine what
time and imagination has done to this boat.

We will look for you. I am hoping to be there about noon Friday. Load stuff on our houseboat then hit the lake for a bit. I am bringing our boat as well so if we miss you at the dock come find us....blue and white Supreme 226.

There will be a riders meeting at the dock at Pleasure Cove marina between 8 & 8:30 I believe Saturday morning. We will try to be anchors up 9.
People arriving Friday night can get their paperwork done and not have to work on it Saturday early.
We plan on all hanging out in the VIP cabin Friday evening to greet people.

Saturday morning we will have coffee by the dock for people to sip as they fill out the paperwork.

Here is the early forecast..........hope it is true then on Monday we can all do a rain dance!!!

Was at Pleasure Cove today and have attached a photo of launch ramp. Still looks perfectly usable, has a decent angle to it.. Concrete is beginning to get a bit broken up where the trailer enters the water line.. Spoke to a guy working there and he said water level drops a few inches per day. The guy said they have no idea how much usable ramp is down there. I was gonna suggest a scuba mask, but didn't wanna get tossed in the lake! ;-)

Steel Canyon launch area was also open as of today. Only one of the two lanes though. Still looked good too, other than the concrete looking a bit broken up and old where you enter the water.

Water otherwise looks great. Looking forward to checking this event out. Temps are suppose to be in the upper 90's this weekend, and mid to high 80's all week and next weekend.

Hey Rob, I won't be there this year but I saw your note about paperwork and I remember that it took a while to get the releases completed last year, so.... Have you considered making the forms available to the participants as PDFs that you could email to everyone beforehand? I'm one of those OCD people who'd love to be able to show up with everything done and ready to go. Not everyone would but it basically costs you nothing to do now and if half the people show up with forms completed (or better yet email you scanned completed forms beforehand) it just makes it that much easier day-of.

BOATS

So here is where we are at today:

Confirmed

1. Nautique G21 with NSS
2. Axis T22 with Surfgate
3. Tige Z3 with new AVX
4. Supra SC 450 with Swell
5. Pavati AL 24 -- Special thanks to Chuck for working hard on this. He says the boat will have their "latest surf system".

Unconfirmed
6. Centurion FS33 with Ramfill -- Feel free to email centurion if you really want to see this boat in the line up. I know they are working on it.

If the FS33 doesn't make it, we are going to load the Wake9 Z3 up with extra weight with RJ driving it for you. It will have a minimum of 4k of water in it just for fun, and just for some off season exhibition fun!

I think this is our best line up yet, we really worked hard to get a good mix. Set the tone for the Best Wakesurf Boats of the 2015 season.

We are FULL again.

It looks like we have a FS33 lined up, but we found one locally, not from Centurion. I think that gives an amazing line up of boats and boards this year.

I have also secured special go pro setups for each boat to video every moment behind all of the boats. We will be mounting cameras in approximately the same position on every boat, plus lots of chase footage. Each boat will be weighted by the folks bringing the boat, and wake9 will be on hand to aid in any weighting or setup if needed.

We have folks from all over the country and Canada coming, and 16 of the riders are new to this type of event and have never been to a polar bear event before.
