KC Adams,
I have a 2001 Maristar210VRS that had the same issues, order a new steering cable (try
www.skidim.com) for a lesser price then the dealer. The job to replace is very easy if your slightly mechanical, just try to do it with an empty fuel tank, as you might have to lift the tank to slide the old one out and put the new one in. Should only take a few hours, and it will make it good as new.
I did mine in 2.5 hours total including adjusting and water testing. Now I can steer with 1 finger again!
email me if you have other questions.
