Well finally after 14 months and 1300 hrs the boat is done. The story starts with an impulse buy of a 1984 ski nautique 2001 on my way home from work. I thought I got a deal but as with most boats from the 80s the stringers were shot. So I slowly started to cut the affected areas from the boat and before I knew it everything was gone floor motor stringers(both primaries and secondaries). This is when the project got fun used a compoiste fiberboard instead of wood and started from scratch. Only reused the windshield, gas tank and rudder. Well what do you think?

Awesome job. There is a sense of great accomplishment for something you tackle yourself instead of paying someone else. Very nice.

Wow - Great job! Now you just need to clean up that trailer and swap out those wheels for steel chrome!

The inside looks more plush than the new ones.

Holy crap...that is the coolest boat ever! Nice job! You have to have big nuts just to ride in that thing:-)

What kind of finish is on that?

Old     (silverlude)      Join Date: Apr 2004       08-23-2005, 7:42 PM Reply
VERY NICE. I did the same project to a 87' fish & ski boat last year so I know how hard it was. You did a great job, love them interior color schemes and nice job everywhere.

That boat is awesome. Throw an AIR logo on the side to finish it off. Awesome job on the interior. Looks factory new.

I will post some before pics. The hardest part was staying motivated lots of weekends and nights in that boat. The color is a flat metallic silver sikkens paint, I added flattening agent to the clear coat. Big nuts are not needed just ear muffs the boat sports dual 4" staight pipes very loud, thinking about a muffler.

Sick, I will also do a old nautique. I want to do up the first ski nautique made. Also no keep the straight pipes sound adds to the look.

Hmm....I think CC needs to hire you as a consultant for their design team after seeing the 220. I'm a fan of the clean look, and that 2001 is the definition of clean.

the more i look the more i see. I love the rubrails. I have never seen a boat where they didnt go all the way around the boat. I noticed your tow point is on the bottom of your tower can you tell me why?

Ryan I have to be honest. I was fired from Correct Crafts product development department for having a bad additude. Its was this that motivated me to build a boat the way I wanted.
Old     (retrofridge)      Join Date: May 2005       08-24-2005, 10:02 AM Reply
To answer the question about decals. Yes those decals are 2006. I got my hands on 2 sets of 210 side decals and spliced them to say 2001.

That boat is sick. ITs like a little baby Epic Wake Boat. I love the sharp, wedgy look. Epic should make their 23v as their big boat. Buy the 210 mold from Correct craft as their middle boat, and use yours as the DD boat. That would be a "core" product lineup.

That is pretty cool.

Interior looks like a cross between a 97-98 and Mid 80's and then the boat looks very stealth.

I know most of you guys know this but 2001 wakes are amazing. Weighted properly they are right up there with the best v-drives.

What did you use for the carpeting and where did you get it? I need to redo mine and I would like what you have. Excellent job on the boat. The interior is awesome. Did you have that done custom? Some NVS Addictions or some Defcon V's would look really great under the tower!

and they don't take anywhere near as much weight to have a great wake. only issue is they are small boats, 4 people is crowded.

Why are you selling it!!!?? I hope you're giving interviews to the prospective buyers to make sure that it goes to a good home. That's crazy that you got fired from CC. You should hook up with Chris Anthony at Epic Wake Boats. Both boats seem designed with the same eye for style.

Nicest 2001 I've ever seen.

Worth 22,000? Not on your LIFE

that is the best looking 2001 i have ever seen!!! all it needs now is a bimini, some racks, and some fat sacks! some lucky guy'll get buy that boat. not for 22k though.
Old     (retrofridge)      Join Date: May 2005       08-24-2005, 4:03 PM Reply
If it takes a year to sell...great. That just means more time on the water. As a side comment I was amazed how much stiffer the boat became after the floor and stringer replacement. Now even the largest rollers and double-ups are taken with ease, can hardly feel them. The wake is amazing with evenly displaced ballast.

Carpet is from local CC dealer. Make sure you get 40oz. If you take your time you can lay the carpet up the hullside in a seamless piece to prevent future problems. I also wanted to point out that the boat was completely sprayed with bed liner material inside before the boat was reassembled. It looks really sharp with a black bilge, no more dirty bilge here.

I think you guys who are not thinking its not worth 22 are out of your minds. Just that drive train alone is about 12g's. I bet that sucker drives like nothing and when weighted you prob can't even tell.

Fix the trailer and I have no dout someone who truly loves these boat will drop 22k on it. Just the fact the wooden stringers is awsome.
