Rich is that Disco? Nice fog shot.

Walt excellent flowing water, really like the DOF in #3.

Keep them coming, and remember no birds

Great shots everyone!!

Love the water shots Walt. I can't wait to see some green in my neck of the woods. I'm tired of all this snow and dead trees.

Here's a few from the other night.

Around 20-30 seconds with a ND filter.

Walt, how thick of an ND were you using? I'm gonna be picking up a few of these and don't know how far to go. .6, .9, 1.2, or beyond?

Darin,
I'm using a 1.8 but I wish I had bought a darker one. I can't slow things down as much as I'd like in full sun.

Both of those were shot through a Stellarvue SV 102 refractor with a piggyback Celsstron Onyx 80ED that was used as a guidescope. The guide camera is an Orion Starshoot guider and it's all mounted on an Orion EQ-G equatorial mount. The actual camera used to collect the data is an SBIG ST-2000XM monochrome with a CFW-8 filter wheel(LRGB+hydrogen alpha filter)
I'm shooting tonight so I'll take a picture of my get-up and post it once it's set-up.

Sorry, Randy... I sort of put up the names of the equipment in case someone wanted to look them up.
Anything specific you'd like to know?

Holy astrophotography Barry! Looks like a sweet setup!

Walt nice pics as usual

Randy nice shots too - the one of the river you posted on the 5th makes me want to break out my flyrod and waders!

Heading to the mountain with my 9YO in the morning I guess I need to not be so lazy and haul my gear as I have yet to take any shots of her snowboarding yet this year, and the grandparents are getting pissed.

Rich I really like the depth in the 3rd shot.

Great shots Rich, really like the cabin/shed shot.

How are you liking Aperture 3? Worth the upgrade from 2?
Old     (richd)      Join Date: Oct 2003       02-16-2010, 8:36 AM Reply
Definitely worth the upgrade. The new adjustment brushes give it "layer" like functionality. Plus they've added a curves adjustment brick and 2 new adjustments called "polarize" and "intensify". Aperture now supports video files as well with trimming and markers.
