Randy I've followed the pics threads for a while. Just wanted to tell you your photos have come leaps and bounds in a short time. Doing awesome!

Heres mine that Ive been meaning to put up for a while. I've got more to come. Havent had a chance to optimize any either. Just thought I would put them up and maybe get some advice for better shots.

not nearly as cool as other birds posted here, nor is the pic as good, but what the heck; i'm posting this since birds seem to be the theme this winter.

A few from the holidays. Shooting one handed really sucks, can't wait to have my right hand back!

Time lapse version

No I was handholding yesterday and I can feel it today. The bottom 3 shots are cropped about 40%.

travis, was that using the canon software? I just read about that on my t1i and want to give it a try.

I like the time lapse Travis did you use some sort of interval timer or sequence a bunch of stills?

DJ - i actually just installed the software last night. for some reason my CS4 doesn't read my Raw files so i had to use it to upload the photo, but besides that i didnt touch it....ok i brought down the exposure just a little to get rid of the fog/smog haha.

Rich - i actually bought a cheap intervalometer thats a "timer remote" from amazon. had some good reviews so i thought why not. Its actually one of the reasons why i bought a dslr. But i just set it to take a picture every 10 seconds, i have another time lapse from earlier in the day as well that i will post.

Its fun but i still have a lot to learn though...

Here's a few pics I took this morning on the way into work. I was driving away from the sunrise and noticed it in my rearview. I pulled over and snappped a few pics. I about 3 minutes, it was gone.

Thanks Travis. I should have used a faster shutter speed for more sharpness. It's not as sharp as I would like. These pics don't do it any justice...the sunrise and wild mustangs were unreal.

Just shot these about twenty minutes ago, just in my backyard. Didn't quite get the right focus on the first one.

Jason, your shots always blow me away, so creative, nice work man. Send me a schedule for next years contest events up north, want to make some for sure.

No tripod... I just set my little Canon SD880 on a glass and set the exposure to -1 1/3.

Here is a cool one of the Hoover Dam shot from a helicopter. We did the helicopter deal on short notice so I should have researched camera settings. My shutter was at 125th. Pics would have been better at 1000th or 2000th but it was actually raining and dark most of the trip so 125th was about as quick as I could get it at that time of the morning.

Total exposure time 117 minutes

Jpeg sure messes up the image. What other format can you post them in that doesn't set-off the 'error' screen for being too large?

Took this over the weekend from Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island, looking towards South Bellevue, WA. We went wakeboarding later that day... poored rain and the wind blew hard. Guess the old addage "Red sky by morning, sailors take warning..." is true.

You handheld for 30 seconds and got that shot!? damn! You didn't have it on a rock or something?

I think you're going to need swabs for those spots.

the shot was only like 5" or so, the lights were pretty bright

^^that's how my hand-held pics turn out (second pic), especially anything lower than 1/60th. I need to learn better bracing techniques or stop drinking so much coffee!

the original is FITS format. The Camera only images in FITS and Adobe doesn't recognize FITS files.
The image device is an SBIG ST-2000XM..

Can you also help me make sure my green channel is properly aligned next time,too?
I think my green filter might be a different thickness or something. I've noticed that channel is always slightly less focused than the other 4.
