So I just purchased a new 2008 210 and it originally had the four 6 X 9 speakers on the tower and the amp to run them. I had the dealer take them off when they sold me the boat to get the price down some. When I went to pick up the boat, he said he would throw the speakers and amp back in for $1k.

Are these speakers any good? Is there a speaker and amp combo out there I could get for $1k or less that would be a lot better than the 4 stock tower speakers and amp? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You should be able to get a set of HLCD's and a solid amp for 1000-1300. That might be a better route if your main goal is to hear while riding. If your goal is to have a good sounding system for in the boat the 6x9's might be a good solution.

You might want to post the brand and model of speaker as well as the amp so the guys who know a lot about systems can tell you if they are junk or good.

I believe the speakers are the Titan Alpha II 6 X 9 3-way speakers. There are four of them. I'm not sure what the amp is. Assuming the factory clarion(?) amp. Below is a pic of the speakers...

A Syn2 and pair of Pro 80's or 60's would do the trick, but not under $1,000.

Exile audio may have something in your price range as well.

If Bullet Hollow Point 770's are still on sale you can get those in eclosures for around 600-700 and you may be able to get an arc 2 channel that would work for $300ish.

Aren't the speakers in the Titan cans MB quart? I don't know about them now but they used to be good back in the day, I think?

Wait for Wetsounds to come out with their 6x9's. Tim hasn't provided any spec's yet. From what he has said, they might be available within the next 3-6 months.

I would do a refurb amp and save some coin and then get either, bullets, wetsounds or Exile.

This site has great deals on amps.

Also their hifonics amps have lots of power for cheap.

There was a set of 485's on sale on ebay a few days ago. Check craigslist and ebay.

MB Quart isn't what it used to be years ago. Several companies have bought out the name over the years. Some is still decent, but it's definitely not what it used to be.

The 6x9's in the Nauty cans are not MB Q's, even though you can get MB Q's in the same Titan aftermarket cans. This came from MB Quarts and Titan.

2 pair of 6 X 9's powered properly are a pretty decent setup, depending on what drivers are in there. I always thought that the TItan cans with MB quartz had a lot of positive press around here.

The 6x9s in the nauti cans used to be the Polk MOMOs and are now the MM series Polks. I would do this upgrade in 2 steps. I would upgrade to a better amp and see how you like it. You need to have an end goal because the Polk MMs have a 2.7 ohm load, meaning that you cannot power these with a 2 channel amp without having overheating issues. I would run this setup with something like the SYN4 or Arc 300.4, and then when you find you want more, you could upgrade the tower speakers to either two pro80s or two pro485s. If you wanted to do something like 4 pro80s you will have to buy a 2 channel amp and replace the factory clarion that runs your in cabin speakers and sub with the 4 channel. I would suggest that in the end you end up with at least a 3 amp setup. One for tower, one for interior, and one for sub. Remember if you choose to go with an EQ in the end you will have to integrate the bow speakers into the amplication. If you dont the volume control of the EQ will not adjust the bow speakers. Hope this helps.

I don't know if it's the best set up but I got Kicker KMT6 speakers and a Kenwood KAC-7204 amp all for around $500. While it's no HLCD set up, I can clearly hear music while riding.

Can you get the cans unloaded? Tim Mentioned something about coming out with HLCD 6X9's soon. That may be the ticket if you ended up getting the cans.
