Going to be in the Stockton area for a couple days next month, and was loooking to do some riding with the rest of the family. I was considering doing a houseboat on lake Don Pedro. What do you guys think, is it worth it for the weekend. Is there areas to find good water on the weekends. Or is there another place I should be looking to ride at somewhere between so cal and the Stockton area. Much appreciated.

weekends at pedro would be rough water. The houseboat would give you the advantage of hitting the water early and late though.

As far as houseboats outside of stockton though, Pedro is probably your best bet. It has more riding spots than Melones. McClure is an option also.

If you want good water all day, the delta is it.

I was thinking the Delta Jrod, but I have only been there a hand full of times, and am not that familiar with the "safe" spots for riding... But hey.. I will probably end up spending the weekend there. Where is a good place to stay.

you can get a houseboat on the delta from Herman and Helen's. Just stay away from the narrow sloughs and you'll be good. You can camp at orwood. Big Ed lives a mile away...hint hint.

I'm not sure about hotels near the delta, but I definitely wouldn't leave a boat unattended on land anywhere near the delta.

I've been hinting now for months but Joshua is not getting it.
