I'm looking to go abroad next year to Australia and I'm having a hard time finding out if the schools I'm looking into have a Wakeboard club. I want to be able to ride over there, so it's pretty much going to make or break my decision.

The schools I'm looking at are:
- Griffith University, which is in Brisbane on the Gold Coast
- Bond University, which is on the Gold Coast
- University of New Castle, which is in Newcastle

Thanks

Look into the University of Queensland in Brisbane (St Lucia campus). It's a great school, and it's the only one in Australia that has a wake club on campus.
You could still join the club if you end up at Griffith Uni though.
Newcastle Uni used to have a good club, but it's dissolved now. It also gets much colder down there in winter, so stay in Queensland if you can.

i spent a semester abroad in coogee beach, eastern suburbs of sydney. although i wakeboarded a few times, and even competed in their regional and natioal comps...i'd recomend focusing on surfing.
(the comps were cool, lots of guys who now ride in the US --> dean smith, chris o, broome, etc..)

sydney uni has a wakeboard club (big thanks to those guys and for amber wing being involved) but it wasn't exactly part of the school and quite a distance away.

wakeboarding can be difficult to arrange and requires a lot of traveling.

the beaches are pristine, great waves, and often topless.

all in all the best 4 mths of my life - definitely go, definitely surf.

with that said...the waterways for riding are unbelievalbe. calm, winding, lots of cliffs.

how often would you be able to wakeboard doing something like that? would it be like once or twice a week or once a month type thing? or more?

just wondering cause i'm thinking about doing that either next year or the year after.

Bond don't have a club, but you'd have a lot of fun living on the gold coast, and could probably find someone to ride with...
Definitely stick to the general Brisbane area if you want any chance of riding. The UQ wake club does only run on sundays, but there are 2 cable parks within reasonable travelling distance as well.

From what I've heard, Bond is more of a full-on program, so if you want a bit of time to travel and stuff I'd go a more standard school. I think Bond is mainly for accelerated degrees, and they have 3 full semesters a year instead of two. It may have changed though.
