Im not mexican! Backroll help

Hey so I learned my mexi style backroll last summer, and i cant make it look like a normal backroll, i go up to the wake with the only thoughts of looking over my left shoulder and putting more pressure on my back leg so it shoots me up, but to no avail i still do a damn mexi roll! Any advice?

do a progressive edge and make sure your hardest part of you cut is when you leaving the wake. that should throw the board out and away instead of what your doing.

i dont get why people are against the mexi roll. i think it looks way better that the trick ski style backroll that we call "textbook". learn to grab your mexi roll and all your friends will be jockin you for your style.

what are grabs you can do for a mexi? You can only do back hand grabs with that rotation, right?

You can still grab with both hands. Its a little harder to grab with your front hand. Any grab with your back hand looks sick though. My favorite is the tail grab roll to blind

Mexican backrolls look terrible IMO...unless you're using it to learn a R2B or KGB. Americanize that roll!

Mine used to be Mexican when I first started throwing them, but to clean it up dont throw your head so hard and try and ride up the wake like a ramp as said above. Make sure you spot your landing upside down and use your arm positioning to control your spin speed.

kenneth- the mexi roll is the same rotation as a toeside front roll but off the heelside wake. kinda like a reverse gainer.
