so i bought the push process dvd yesterday. got home and popped it in the dvd player. i got an error saying "bad disc." went to the bedroom and popped it in another dvd player. got the error again. went to another room and popped it in the playstation 2 and played just fine. popped it in the (sony) laptop and played just fine.

does the dvd only play in sony dvd players? i know, stupid question. i wasn't really serious, but is it in a format that only certain dvd players can read? i know it was shot in hd, but it's encoded in mpeg-2 format, right?

and no, i haven't watched it yet. i want to watch it in my living room w/ the bigger tv and surround sound.

interesting that it worked in a PS2 and had problems in a newer standalone. My experience with burning different DVD formats is that PS2s are pretty sh**** as far as playback compatibility. Were the players you were having trouble with +/-R(W) compatible? Some older players don't playback +R discs, but this really shouldn't be an issue coming from a master copy/distributor.

Joe, I have the same issue. It works on my Mac, but not on my JVC DVD player. Does anyone have the contact info to the distributor?

Are these burned discs or pressed? Burned discs have always had issues with compatibility.

some of these movies do not match up with the codec in the older DVD players. I can not play my transgression in my living room....but when I take it down stairs and play it in my theater room....no worries. newer player works...older does not!
