That's an interesting shape and construction. Stringerless EPS, Finless too. I like the placement of the wings true pivot point, especially at the end of those almost parallel rails. That's a great shape.

JL is that airbrushed? The checkerboard on the rails looks perfect.

Rock has the artwork down pat that is opaque paint, then air brushed and a few more tricks that rock keeps close to the vest . I'm working on the video that tells the build, In the last few months I have seen the real master of boards and it is Rick Rock . Jeff your effort on your builds is getting better on each one. Keep pushing it ,good boards happen and all the effort will lead to the Board of your vision . There are no bad boards just some ride better than others . Just trying to make some boards that push the rider to the next level. Cant wait to get some out there for you surfers to enjoy Be safe on these Holidays J.L. Sleigh & Rock

Thanks JL - Rock is really progressive with shapes and construction. It's great to see something different from the sea of "me too's!" out there.

How will the lack of fins and the deep rails make this thing move? I wakeboard and love finless setups but seems like you wouldn't get the drive with out fins on a surfboard? Looking to make a few this winter and this is intriguing. Bold move for sure.

I love the surf band in the video JL. :-)

I'm impressed with the design elements in the Module. As Rock pointed out, the step/wing and fin combination give a true pivot point. The wings on the rails of some wakesurfers don't align with the fins and so, IMO, mute the effectiveness of that wing. With this design, the step IS the end of the fin and will provide that release point.

In terms of drive, as Scott brings up, the depth of the fin isn't what creates drive, instead the base is mostly responsible for that. If you visualise two yardsticks attached as fins to the bottom of a board, a 1 inch base with 36 inch depth won't provide significant drive, perhaps if sturdy enough, they would offer directional stability - they would reduce the boards ability to tail slide (maybe :-) ). In this design, the fin base is quite long. I think I counted 9 checkerboard patterns in one of the pictures above. In theory, that should offer more than adequate drive, although I'd also bet a skatey feel on demand. Also, the relatively parallel outline at the back, in order to accomodate the fins/rails (avoid toe OUT) should aid with down-the-line speed. To me the combination of the various design elements in this board is amazing.

I'm looking forward to a ride video.

Nice board, it will be great to hear how it rides. I also noticed that it looked like there wasn't much concave to this board if any at all. Could different concaves make the board ride different or would it just make the board even more complicated? Love the innovation!
