I have a buddy that is looking to buy his first boat. The one he is considering is a 2006 Supra Launch 21V. Here is the link to the ad: https://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/bod/5492884593.html

First off, I think that the price (35K) is a bit high but I am not that up to date with supra's resale values. Could anyone give me an opinion on the value of this boat as well as any suggestions/knowledge of things to be aware of when purchasing this model. It is being sold by a dealer that claims to know the full history of the boat so what questions should be asked? Any input would be great. Thanks!!

I would say if you got for $30k you are getting a great deal. At $34k it might be a touch high, but it is low hours. Looks like the Vinyl and carpet are filthy. Makes me wonder how the rest of the boat was cared for. The 21V is a great boat.

It may just be the pics but the boat interior looks pretty rough. It appears to be a dull dingy white. I have an 04 and my interior looks much cleaner than that. It just so happens I'll sell for hat amount to lol.

Thanks for the input! Is there an achilles heel on this boat? Anything that should've been changed out by now or can be expected to go out in the near future? As an example, I have an '02 SAN and the digital gauges are notoriously bad in that model year. If I was buying one used I would want to ask if they had been changed out or not so I could at least know what to expect.

I have an 05 supra launch 21v. I love it. Performs perfect. Great wakeboard wake. More storage than any other 21 foot boat I've been on. Achilles heel? The wake surf wake is blah. If your into that kind of thing....

The ballast pumps are slow but can be upgraded fairly easy. That engine is known to vapor lock on really hot days, but all it take to fix it is pour cold water on the fuel filter.

BUT with that said

I have the same engine in my 06 24V and in 6 years mine as only vapor locked once and that was on a 100+ day in a heated lake with a power plant. I took a bottle of water and poured it on the fuel filter and it fired it right up and ran fine the rest of the day.

That engine also get my pig of a boat on plan with 3300# of ballast with no problem with an up graded prop. So in a 21V it would be even better.

Here is how to up grade the ballast. I did it on my boat.

I think it's an 1864 OJ but I'll have to check when I get home. It's been on there a couple years now so I haven't really thought about it in awhile.

Install this kit to eliminate vapor lock. Best money I spent when I had my 05 21v. Simple install and no more vapor lock.
