Opinions on New Melones

Thinking about a day trip this Thursday to New Melones. Never been and looking for feedback.What is the best launch ? Is launch and parking paved or un-improved ? I was thinking Thursday would not be busy yet and might be a good time to try it out .

The ramps and parking areas are fine. I've only used two ramps Marina/Glory Hole and Angels Creek, not sure if they have any others. The one I use now is Glory Hole/marina. IMO, it's not any nicer, but some friends of mine had their trucks broke into at the other ramp. There is a little more safety at the marina ramp, because there is more people around.

If you come up through Angels Camp, there is a place right as you are leaving town to fill up gas. From there it isn't to much farther, I hate having to haul all that weight farther than I have too. Sonora/Jamestown route can be a haul from last gas to lake, and a little more up and down, twisting.

I've got a houseboat on New Melones. I love the lake. I've always used Glory Hole to launch. It is paved and should have plenty of parking on the weekdays.

It should be okay on the weekdays.

The weekends are a little rough there.
