Hey guys and girls.

I'm looking to purchase a new boat to wakesurf with and wakeboard.

Yes I'm a newb.

I know my basics etc. But would like to hear I out on the best bang for my buck.

I have always liked the Tiges how they look the quality etc but prob gonna be out of my price range. I will be waiting till winter to buy. Trying to get the best deal.

Looking for a 22 or bigger.

Have noticed the wakesetters are a decent deal

Found a few 09s for around 40k

Any ways. Here we go. 22 or bigger. Would like a great wake to surf with. I like the pickle nose but not a deal breaker. Perfect pass.

My budget is right around 50k but the cheaper the better but you get what you pay for.

Thanks guys. Lmk your thoughts.

Been looking at
Axis
Wakesetter
Mastercraft idk the models that well
Tige
Centurions

For 50k or less you should seriously look at mb sports they will give you lots of room inside, great surf and wakeboard wake, you can't beat the bang for buck especially if you are fond of pickle forks. Look at the 2010-12 tomcats they are out there in your range depending on your side of the country you live.

I don't mind traveling for a boat to grab one.

I have not really looked at those. See a lot of 09s FS
What changed into 2010?

Might be able to find a used 2014 Axis A22 for 50k in the fall/winter? Watch onlyinboards.com

Lots of great options for that budget. I would def be looking at an Axis A22. Also, you didn't mention Nautique; you can find a used 230 for that price and will def not regret it...

Would love a nautique

I think I might stretch my budget a bit and say 60k want something really nice. Seems like you can get a set up spending a little more. Idk again newb. The Tiges newer just catch my eye like no other.

I have no issues waiting till winter. My Gf and me are planning a trip to lake Powell in early spring for a week and we will be dropping in the new boat there for a vacation

Also I like the axis a lot. Just didn't know if it's my best bang for my buck. And of course that new T22 looks great.

If you're willing to do 60k, just do yourself a favor and get a brand new Axis. You'll probably spend slightly more than that, but you'll get a better rate and a BRAND NEW boat under warranty.

What model?

I see the new A24 or T22

Personally I really like the build quality and feel of a Wakesetter.
I have ridden a 2012 VLX without and a 2014 VLX with, both have awesome surf wakes.
The inside feels nice and plush and spacious, and this is one of the smaller boats in their lineup.
You could look into Moombas, but the build quality isn't as nice (not as much cushion on the seats, small aesthetic stuff, etc) although they would fall in your budget. I haven't been in an Axis yet, but have heard similar stuff about them as the Moombas, but hear they are a little nicer when you compare the two.

Riding a boat with a surf system is nice as you can run the boat level and it doesn't have to be a big production if you have a riders who ride the different sides. It's also fun to get out on the opposite side of the boat every now and then and work on your switch or heelside riding, not to mention transfer tricks if you get a boat that can switch on the fly.

I'm guessing a new Axis will be around 75k?

I like the wakesetters a lot.

So they are easy to set up to go from goofy to regular? Bc I'm reg and my GF is goofy.

I was looking at a 2010 wakesetter I liked a lot.

and the A22. The A24 is a PHENOMENAL boat, but new it's in the 70k range. Easily the bets bang for the buck boat though. Both surf wakes are GREAT and the wakeboard wake is one of the best in the industry.

The A22 and T22 are both phenomenal as well. The wakes might be slightly smaller than the big brother, but they are still nothing to bat an eye at, they are legit boats.

The MB as mentioned above is a good option as well. However, they're a smaller company and don't quite have the marketshare that Axis has. If you have a good local dealer that will stick around, then it's worth a look.

Was also told a wakesetter burns a lot more fuel bc there wake setup is always dragging. I could be wrong

Yeah Munson is right by me and they are a Axis dealer. I can't find a MSRP on the A24

Just called my local dealer. They don't have my color but I think I'm gonna go check one out tonight.

a24 that is. Said it would be around Mid 70s out the door. That surf gate is sick

A24 out-the-door is going to be ~75k depending on options and location. A22 will be ~65k. T22 will be a few thousand less than equivalent A22.

Now would you still get a new A24 over let's say a used Z3?

Has anyone rode behind a 07 wakesetter with wake plate?

For mid 30s to 40k seems like a lot of boat for the money

I assume you mean wedge, that boat should do pretty good, but wakesetter is not a model, per se. What length boat? What are you concerned about?

Yeah my bad. And VLX 21.5

The vlx is tried and true. Great boat. I think you're probably in a whole different price range, but I would much rather have an A24. That's personal preference. The wake will be much better( read, bigger lol), you get surfgate and you get the ease of the Axis plug-n-play ballast system. The Malibu is going to require some supplemental ballast install that won't be nearly as straightforward as Axis plug-n-play ballast.

When it comes to Malibu vs Axis, most people typically mention things like creature comforts, fit and finish, etc... being above Axis. And that's true when comparing new vs new. I think in your case, you're going to like how fresh, new and modern the Axis feels, vs a 7 year old boat.

Again, it's probably a decent price jump to get into the Axis though. Either boat will be phenomenal, and 20k goes a long way towards stereo upgrades, wake surf boards, wakeboards, ropes and handles, ballast installation, cleaning supplies, etc...

For 60 or 70 you could buy any brand. I've owned Centurion, Nautique and two MasterCraft's. They all make great boats.

Take your time and decide for yourselves, have her buy into the entire process. In the end you will have no regrets and be happy with your decision.

I'm leaning on Axis.

Issue is I want the latest and greatest so leaning on a A24 bc of the gate.

But damn 75k I told myself I was gonna start only spending 40k like everything I double it from my starting ideal price.

Gonna wait till fall and see if I can get a little better deal. Anyone have a hookup on Axis?

Yes, not my favorite wake (vlx) difficult to dial in and still had any annoying spray... However wakeboard wake was awesome

Gotta second this. Here are a couple of pics of the wave on my buddies 14 lsv with surf gate. About 2100lbs of ballast, wedge down, and 5 adults and two kids.

I love my enzo 230 but the bu wake is sick.

Ok I waited till winter hoping to find a better deal

Hoping to go to a dealer on Friday and try to figure this out. I still like the axis. A few people I have spoke to say the bow can take on water in rougher water.

I called on a sweet deal on a 2012 RZR that sold

Dealer was trying to sell me a left over 14 Z1 for 65k

65k for a left over Z1 isn't bad. If you can get it down near 60k I'd say that's a great deal even at this time of the year.

Yeah he was stuck at 65. That's what I was thinking too.

I really wanna go check out the Axis T23.

Seriously a big thank you to everyone that has taken the time to help me in this thread.

I got a 2014 Axis A22 Vandall for 63k out the door. Before taxes and fees I was at 58500. 7 % sales tax where I live. Dealer was Deep Creek Marina in Maryland. I know they have an A20 Vandall left. I look and see if they have others and get back to you.

They also have a 2014 T22. Good people to deal with and they want to move the 14's to make room for the new ones.

Insane you use to be able to get a A22 for under 40k

Heading to look at a 15 A22 and a 13 247 LSV tomorrow. :-)
