Please help - America vs Australia Malibu build

Can someone please explain asap the difference between the hulls on early model wakesetters
I have been looking between 01-05 VLX wakesetters.
The ones built in America have a different shape near the chime at the rear of the boat compared to the Australian built boat!
American has a what looks like a quarter bite taken from the chime then flattens down to the V.
The Aus hull looks very much like the late model diamond hull. From the V of the boat comes up to the chime then almost points down then connects to the side of the boat...
Is the American hull a better wake hull?

Sounds like a diamond hull vs a wake hull. It's not a region difference both were sold in the states at well. The diamond hull has the larger outer chine. It's designed that way to improve the ski wake at higher speeds.

There is a lot of debate as to whether or not the diamond hull is worse for wakeboarding. The consensus seems to be that a diamond hull wakeboard wake is slightly smaller and thus takes slightly more ballast to get the same wake as the wake hull.

It is my memory that ausy didn't make anything but the diamond hull pre 2005.

My experience is that hull blows for wakeboarding. The wake hull is tonnes better

I had a Oct 05 VLX in Australia and bought specifically because that is the time they changed the hull to the wake hull.

I moved to the states and bought pretty much exactly the same boat, May 05 VLX (even came close to getting the same color schemes) and it came with the wake hull. I believe the diamond or wake hull was an option much early in the states than Aus.
