Removing Water Spots

I know a lot of people use 50/50 water and vinegar at wipedown to prevent spotting, but anyone have any good solutions for removing water spots? I had my boat in Shasta lake for a Week and I am having a hard time removing the water spots.

I use the 50/50 solution to remove waterspots... maybe mine aren't as bad as you get at shasta?

Meguires has a "Hard Water Spot Removal" product, works great on the black trim of my boat.

some of those spots you might not ever get out, but try and hit it with a stronger vinegar mix and some elbow grease...

Look on Maguires website... I have neglected the water spots for over a year now... so I bought some Maguires Heavy Oxidization Remover... it is gritty stuff... used on small area... works great.. but there are traces of your gel coat color on the rag of buffing pad... scarey... needs good wax or protectant afterwards!

Thanks for the tips. I love my black gel coat but it does seem to show spots more!

Get some good microfiber towels. They work wonders!

I use the Dultmeier towels, but I get them at 50% off since I have a car wash. The towels dry the boat quicker, don't leave streaks or scratches and last forever if you take care of them!

I run a 50/50 Vinegar / Windex mixture. Works assume! I learned it from a friend. We always used that on his boat and it looked and cleaned up great. I continue to use this after every trip on the water. I have to say 3-4 times a week gets boring, but now it is a ritual.

I use CLR when it's really nasty. Works immediately though!

Try Finish Kare #583 hard water spot remover. It would be available from auto detail suppliers. It is a blend of Hydrofluoric Acid and Sulfuric Acid. It is the best product we have found and it will not harm the gel surface of the boat (make sure to keep it off of the aluminum).

would probably work, but isn't that like hull cleaner, seems kinda extreme for simple hard water spots??? as was said, amp up the vinegar content and rub a lil more, my spots come right off...

our black gelcoat on the hull cleans up really nice with the vinegar water mixture, and thats even after the boat sits in the water for weeks at a time..

Does the 50/50 mix of vinegar and water remove the wax along with the water spots? Can you use this mix all over the gel coat in a spray bottle each time out or only to remove spots?

Babes (which I use all of their products on my boat) has a spot remover that works very well too, if the above products don't work for you.

I tried the windex/ vinegar 50/50 mix last night and it worked great taking out the waterspots.

Just tried water/vingar 50/50 mix last week didn't seem to help much.

I have buffed my other boats but it is allot of work, would like to find something that works.

The Babe's Boat Brite won't take off hard water spots once they've dried. It will do OK on fresh water spots. But the Babe's Spot Solver does take off hardened spots. I had a ton on my black deck at the end of the season and a few squirts of that stuff took them all out with a few wipes. Highly recommend the Babe's Spot Solver!

a purple bottle called KABOOM. wash the boat with soap and water then wipe it down. take the spray bottle and hit the water spots wiping after spraying it and they will come off immediately. after i do that a use a spray detailer

I have said it again and again HOT SAUCE by boat bling. This stuff was made by Arizona boaters on the colorado river. It is the best stuff on the market and will not strip your wax and leaves a nice shine.
