Hi
I have recently purchased a supra21v with a boat mate trailer. My issues was that the 5 pin conversion did not allow for the Volvo XC90 to go in reverse and disengage the brakes.

My question is what is the color scheme.

There are 3 blue, 1 white, 1 yellow, 1 green, 1 green and brown, and 1 yellow and brown.

I was wondering what they all are and in what position they go.

1 Parking lamps

2 Charging

3 Right indicators

4 Electrical brake

5 Ground

6 Left indicators

7 Reserve

The above are the 7 positions in the 7 pin attachment. Please let me know what color wire goes to what pin.

Thanks George

You should be able to get a 7 to 5 pin adapter so you don't have to worry about which wire goes where.
The adapter should work. The blue wire on the five pin is for the reverse. You can bypass the 7 pin plug and run a wire to a reverse light. This can be found with a test light and the vehicle in reverse. I just wired my truck up to the five flat pin for my new Supra.

1 Parking lamps - Brown
3 Right indicators - Green/Brown
5 Ground - white
6 Left indicators - Yellow/Brown

3 & 6 may be reversed. Look at the plug on the left or right tail lamp for the color.

One of the outlets should provide for current from the reverse lamp circuit when the vehicle is in reverse. This will power the three blue wires. Two are for the reverse lamps (left side & right side), one is for the reverse lockout solenoid in the actuator which locks out the trailer brakes when backing.

Tell the cheap ass dealership you bought your Supra from to give you the adapter.

If they wont do it go to your auto parts store and buy the adapter.

Is the 7 pin harness on your Volvo factory installed? If it is then it should work with the 7 to 5 pin adapter. If not the harness could be wired wrong and would need to be changed. Also some vehicles require a relay to be added to allow the reverse lights to work on the trailer harness to release the brakes in reverse.

Ghetto...lol. Flip the plug around when you get to the ramp and turn on your headlights.
