Which would you recommend for primarily surfing and second wake-boarding?

Are there any changes coming for 2017?

Also, new is always better haha go for the 17' while your at it!

Ive been on both and the 23lsv just feels like a way bigger boat. That extra foot is definitely in the cabin area only. I would get the biggest engine you can afford though.

I am looking at picking up a 2016 with attractive pricing.

Both the LSV and VLX have the exact same options with the exception of the VLX having 2 tower speakers (Icon 8s + Amp), the LSV has none. Both are priced the same.

How do these boats compare to a Z2?

The 23LSV surfs amazingly well. At least as well as the Z2/Z3 I'd say. Although I don't have a ton of experience with the Tige's. It would blow the Tige out of the water for wakeboarding.

Tige will have a better rough water ride and surf in choppy water better than the lsv. Can't go wrong with the lsv just make sure you get the upgraded motor like stated above.

You really don't need the upgraded motor in the LSV. The 410 Raptor is powerful, and the only difference between it and the 450 Raptor is a software tune.

If you need extra space go with the 23 LSV, it definitely is an awesome boat. I would also defend the 22 VLX that it can also throw a respectable surf wave...the boats only differ 200 lbs. The wakeboard wake on the 22 VLX is also legit, no slouch by any means. I have about 180 hours with the new 22 VLX, it has been a fantastic boat, the new re-design from the older 21 VLX was a home run imo.

Here is a 2015 22 VLX surf wave...

They are both awesome boats. The 22 has a steeper drop to its keel-line. So they actually probably displace similar water amounts.

I have a 410HP 23 LSV and I run the stock prop at sea level. Stock Ballast (1450), 500lbs of lead under the dash, 750 PNP in the engine compartment and the wedge in the two spot. the 2015+ Lifting wedge and the new ratio is no joke. I'm good until I get to about the 10 person range and then I will drain some out of the back, but that has as much to do with wake balance and shape as time it takes to get on plane--It will still get there.

My dealer said the 22VLX will surf just as good as the 23LSV, but for me it was the cooler placement and the larger boat that sold me on the 23LSV.
The wakeboard wake is awesome!!! CLEAN @17MPH

I was about to post this very question.
Does the LSV still handle well?
Yall are saying get a big engine. Are yall suggesting getting the 575 supercharged engine? Or the 450?

There is some bad info on this thread IMO. I've owned 2 LSVs. 2015 was a 350 and my 2016 was a 410. I run a heavy boat. Last year I had 550 PNP in the back and also the High Tourque prop. It did just fine, even with a loaded boat. It did run a little higher RPM than I wanted at cruising speed, but it was fine out of the hole. This year, they upgraded the transmission. I have the 410 and run the STANDARD prop. Not the high altitude or the high torque. I have 750s in the back and it absolutely kills it. At wakeboard speed, I run at about 3700-3800 RPMs. I guess I do not understand what the 450 would get you. Do you want to run 1100s? Those are silly and honestly do not fit. And it throws the boat way out of balance (I run 500lbs of lead under my dash just to offset the PNP).

If you are going to spend about $15K to upgrade the engine, why not spend $20K and upgrade the engine and move to the 25ft (450 is standard in the 25)?

I have a 2016 23LSV and im running 800# PNP in the rear with 410HP 1.76ratio high alt prop, and it will pull a house, but cruse speed 23-25mph 4000rms, top speed about 34-35mph
