I don't live down there, but have family in Discovery Bay and know a lot of you live down there as well. I signed it as I don't want to see things get worse there with the water situation than they already have been with droughts.

This is a SERIOUS issue for the health of the Delta and it is gaining legitimate steam behind the scenes. They want to divert all of the water BEFORE it gets through the Delta to ship down the canals...essentially choking off the water flow through the Delta system. And what is the name for this operation...wait for it...

The Bay Delta Conservation Plan!

...throw in some money for some levees and a title that makes it seem like it is a GOOD thing for the Delta...and poof...they get the support of the public. Meanwhile Discovery Bay will become a stagnant cesspool and the fisheries die off due to the reduced water flow. In no way is this good for the Delta...only for those that want the water.

There is less then a month for the public to stop it or it will go into effect and they will start building. This in not a good thing I hope we stop it before it's to late if it's already not. Save the delta for real. At least sign it. Please.

Signed. We have family friends that live on the Delta just outside Holt. This place is my Graceland and I'm jealous of any of you that get to live there.

A gate at Georgiana Slough (and maybe a couple other spots) that closes during certain weeks to prevent fish from ziging when they should zag would achieve the same ecological benefit they are trying to achieve and save the state several billion dollars.

I think this is more of a water grab masked as a ecological benefit.

Right... But the gates take care of the ecological arguments being used to justify the tunnels at a far lower cost economically. You have to play their game to win.

This project is nuts!

After Katrina, the bozo politicians said, could this happen to the CA? They came up with this stupid concern that a huge earthquake in the Bay Area could cause some of the delta levies to fail. And, the levies failing would possibly ***** the water NoCal pumps to SoCal for a few months.

So, their stupid solution is to spend $10 billion on tunnels to assure water for farming after NoCal is wiped out by a huge earth quake. If the delta is hit hard, then bay area will be a total mess. Millions of people will be homeless, foodless and fighting in the streets for food/water/gas. Meanwhile, SoCal has water. What a relief! Idiots!

So in reality $148-200 billion.

Kind of amazed at how little discussion there is about the Delta tunnels. I have recently joined Restore the Delta and the news is not looking good. It seems nothing will stop Jerry Brown on his mad mission to pump the life out of the Delta. So if you care, read a little. Check out Restore the Delta.

The next step will be to tie it into Shasta through the Sacramento river and then look to other states from there. So Cal is the tail wagging the dog. They have always been a parasite on the rest of the states resources.

^^^yup. All that Hollywood $$$$ they should put into some desalination plants to support their needs.

It is not So Cal residents that are sucking it all up. It is the mega corporate farms in central California that need all the water and are the ones quietly ramming this through.

You are right Shawn. It's big corporate farm money that's behind the coming disaster. As far as"quietly ramming it through" look at this thread. People should be freaking out and doing all they can to stop the tunnels. yet there seems to be little or no concern. So here is reality ladies and gentlemen. If, and it probably will, these tunnels happen, there could be no more Twin Sloughs, Orwood, Old River, Union Point, Discovery Bay, etc. This is reality, it's not in the far future or somewhere else. It's coming if you don't get involved. Read "Restore the Delta" website and it should scare you. Hate to preach, but it,s time to put some energy towards this, instead of your speakers or a new board. There"s a few certain almond growers in Kern County that will thank you for your lack of concern, while they drain our delta.

Nestle won't mind your inaction either. Sounds like their 10 year water permit expired 27 years ago and nobody bothered to review it. So while everyone decides how many billions they are willing to spend in order to pump water into California, Nestle is bottling up millions of gallons so they can export it OUT of California. The brilliance of this is overwhelming.

Besides voting what else can we do?

Red, go to the "Restore the Delta" website. This site will inform and hopefully motivate anyone. Except of course if you happen to be the Governor or grow almonds in Kern County. Seriously, the site is full of information, even ways that farmers can get water without destroying the Delta. Read, better yet, join and support it.
