That's right; the annual end of summer gathering for northwest riders is quickly approaching. For those who aren't in the know, a group of us northwest riders have been getting together for a little event called Northwest Wakefest for the last ten years or so. The gathering takes place in Pateros Washington along the Columbia River every year Labor Day Weekend.

A little info about the event.

This is an opportunity to get together with other northwest riders to share boats, boards and water. We aren't a competition nor are we professionals in any way. We simply gather to have fun with friends and family that enjoy boarding as much as we do.

We stay in Pateros Washington at a little motel located directly along the Columbia River about 15 miles north of Chelan. The town is setup perfect. Everything you need is within walking distance. Restaurants, gas, liquor store, bakery, tavern and sporting goods store. The motel provides boarders with ultra easy access to the water and a great view of the riders when watching from the shore.

Our group is largely made up of families and we encourage those who have children to attend. We pride ourselves on providing a chill atmosphere were parents can relax and let their kids run around without worrying about anyone getting too out of hand.

We usually drag a slider and a kicker over to insure the folks on shore have some laughable moments watching those fool enough to hit them.

Every year we raffle off a ton of gear and swag donated by multiple boarding companies to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation.

Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome. For those who would like to attend, please contact me for a room at Cliff.Griffin@Pepsico.com for reservations.

OH... almost forgot... This is why we chose this location every year.

Here are a few videos I did from the last couple of years.
I never get to make it for the whole event, so I usually miss the kicker/slider madness... these vids are mostly just designed to show how much fun we have. Enjoy!

looks like a good time, what's the water temp like?
Old     (digg311)      Join Date: Sep 2007       08-05-2011, 8:14 PM Reply
I think the river there is around 70 degrees or so this time of year. Air temps should be high 80's - low 90's. And yes, it's definitely a good time!

When are you guys planning to get in? There's a chance we'll be heading out on Friday again this year, but I've never hit a rail and would love to give it a try.

I'll be hitting that rail without question.

Brooke's school starts before labor day this year so I won't be able to make it over until Friday A.M. Can you change my hotel reservation accordingly. Thanks. Looking forward to getting back on a board and a slider. See you all there!

Brian- Alta lake has 2 campgrounds and is about 10 minutes away. There are also a few spots for camping and rv's right next to the hotel in Pateros.

Sorry,

I posted up Labor Weekend assuming everyone already understood the dates. This takes place Thursday the 1st through Saturday the 3rd. Some come earlier and some stay later through Labor Day. It's more about riding than anything else so folks kinda make up their own shcedule.

Mike,

Changed your room reservations.

For the rest who interested, the motel is booked solid as of this morning. I will post up if I have any cancellations. You can always stay at one of these nearby locations.

Alta Lake Golf Course. Nice, inexpensive and about a mile away.

Alta Lake Camp Grounds. I've never stayed but I hear it's pretty nice. Also about a mile away.

Pateros Lakeshore Inn. This place is very nice, just down the street from the motel. Downside is it's pricy.

If I have any cancellations I will post up immediately.

You bet.

Neal and Bob are from the "Hill" here in Seattle. Neal swears he knows you from back in the day and Bob says he trusts Neals judgement. Both are very excited to "hook up" with you!

There's an easy solution to this....start the weekend early! Like tomorrow! I'll be there Tuesday afternoon if anyone else shows up and wants a pull. See ya all out there!

J, I think we are leaving CDA around 9:30. We might have to stop at Teresa's school if she doesn't get it 100% ready. If you need me to haul anything over (washers, long board) just let me know. I am off Wednesday so give me a call if you get a chance.

Had a blast this past weekend, we will be there every year from now on!

On another note, how many others got sick and were throwing up badly?
3 of the 6 in our party all got sick on Sunday morning?
Not sure if it was the Flu, or food poisoning?
What did those who got sick eat @ the potluck Saturday night? just curious...
Feeling much better today and can't wait til next year.

Where are all of the pics at???

As far as the charity raffle, we made just a bit over $4000 for the Susan G. Komen foundation! Thanks to all of those that were generous enough to spend their hard earned money on raffle tickets. A big thanks to those of you that donated goods. Without the generous donors of merchandise and swag, we couldn't do it.

Thanks again to everyone who made it a great Wake Fest. See you next year.
