You are trying to watch a video that has been compressed with a newer version CODEC than what the viewer is capable of playing. (example: The video was compressed with Microsoft's new v9 codec and you're using media player 6). The audio can still be heard is because backwards compatible.
SOLUTION: Unless you are using Window NT, you should upgrade to Microsoft's Media Player 9
