Hey Guys,

Looking for a little advice. Currently running 2 Exile XM7's with an old Exile 400.4 amp (will be using for cabin speakers).

Getting ready to install a pair of Exile SXT65q's and change out the Amp to a Exile Harpoon.

What is the best way to wire the speakers? Should I wire them in parallel? The wire that is ran is 18ga (was wired when I bought it) should a re-pull wire either 16ga or 14ga?

When adding the new amp I need to run new power wire (old 400.4 is on 8ga). It is about 13 feet to the battery I'm planning on using 4ga and 0ga with a distribution block. Which should be the long run 4ga or 0ga?

Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Well with DC power you always want the thickest wire over distance so 0 ga for your long run.

18ga in tower is a bit small. I would find some 12 or 14ga.

You'd be surprised how little power you lose with speaker wire sizing.

For the amp do 0 from the battery to your distro block and then 4 to the amp as short a lead as possible.

For a 13ft x 2 run for that 2 chnl and 4 chnl amp, the 1/0 ga is fine for the trunk line and then 4 ga to both amp from the distribution block. Besides, I dont think that amp will accept 1/0 ga in the lugs.

Have you considered selling the 6.5" HLCD and go with a single pair of larger HLCD? This would give you what you are after by adding a set of coaxials, and the amp would run at a more comfortable 4 ohm p/chnl.

14ga if you are going to home-run each speaker wire run, or 12 ga down the tower to the amp, if you are going to make the parallel junction up in the tower.

Thanks for the help so far.

Another question what do everyone use when cover the wire between the tower and the boat? I was thinking upswing a rubber grommet and soming Ike this http://www.cableorganizer.com/nylon/ Pictures would be great.

Anyone ever use KnuKoncepts wiring?

Avoid their Over-sized CCA. It will not fit many terminals of the same GA and it mushrooms something awful when you strip the insulation off.

What is a good option for wires without braking the Bank?
