i am about to purchase a new boat, well new to me anyway. yay! i had a question about it, it is listed as a 97 air nautique 210. i just want to be sure that it actually is and that its a 21 foot boat. im in tx and the boat is in ca. any help would be appreciated.

In 1997 Nautique had one other direct drive open bow, the Ski Nautique 196. It had a much different bow seating arrangement. The boat you are looking at is definitely a 210. Check out the brochure here.

Looks like a Sport Nautique to me and someone added on a (gen2?) fct tower. The '97 Air was the first year for it and it didn't have that tower. It also had a rear hard tank for ballast if i remember right? It was based on the Sport Nautique which is a stated 19' 6". Here's an actual '97 Air, http://raleigh.craigslist.org/boa/1452855339.html

Is that the right trailer? That might be hard to drive onto that trailer without some kind of stop. Should see if someone on here lives in the area and can go check it out.

Rich, i don't believe that is the correct trailer. Everyone i've seen for '97-98 was a DHM with the front crash pads.

Dude i'd be very carefull with this one, it doesn't appear to be what it's advertised as.

That is just a 97 sport nautique with a newer tower on it. That is not a 210. Its a 21 foot open bow direct drive. The hull is very similar to a 210, but a not a Vdrive. You can get a great wake out of it, but there is no where to put ballast but on the floor. As for the trailer being the right one, I bet it is. I have seen plenty of trailers without a bow stop. Some manufacturers have the option of the bowstop or not. My buddy has a dorsey tandem axle for his 210 with not bow stop.

That is definately not a 210. The 210 is a v- drive.

Razzman,
Just so you know that Air Nautique in the craigslist ad you posted is a 1998 not a 1997. The first year of the air nautique was 1998 which also included the redesigned transom with trunk and tanks. The 1997 still had the sloped transom.

Wow. That interior is really beat up. If the owner did not take care of the interior at all, it makes you wonder how the rest of the boat that you can't see was maintained. I don't think I've ever seen such a beat up interior. In the shot that shows the dash there is even some sort of garabage all over the floor.

Bill, i just posted that to show the tower that should be on an air. According to CC's archives '97 was the first year of the air.

98 was the first year for the air nautique and 99 for the 210 super air.

Razz, If you look at that brochure on CCfan that Big Heavy posted up above there is nothing in it about the "Air" nautique model. I'm almost certain 98 was the first year of the "real" air nautique. CC added the "sport Nautique with a tower" model late in 1997 model year. Ballast was not an option since the transom didn't allow for it so it wasn't really much of a wakeboard boat. graphics were added too. What archive did you see that information in? Let me know, I'm curious now.

Bill, This is where i first found it, http://www.nautiques.com/about/history/#1997

I also found it somewhere else but i can't find it again. It was in a magazine reference or something like that.

Razzman could be right.I know the brouchure says 98 but it could have been put into production after the brouchure printing mid year or so.

It's a 97 sport as others have noted.

I have the same boat and tower setup. Price seems almost too low if really checks out. The Tower / bimini combo is almost $3500 alone ( not installed) .

That looks pretty beat up. Rear seat was already redone / not original. Guess the price reflects the condition. Would need all new seat skins. I wouldn't touch it with out having it checked out by a mechanic. The motor is the Ford GT40, not a 350 as listed.
