I'm looking to add some speed control to my '99 Sport Nautique solely for the purpose of improving new drivers' capabilities. It appears as though the price difference is minimal with the wake editions. Which one is more user friendly? Easier to install? More reliable?

Keeping in mind we're looking for repeatability, not tournament accuracy. If that makes any sense.

If you have had a previous system in the boat that included a servo motor, the stargazer system is practically a plug and play. It's very easy to install. The hardest part is probably mounting the antenna somewhere. Opinions will differ I'm sure and while ZO is the probably the most reputable name brand it's much more expensive to my knowledge and I didn't think it was available on older boats like that (could be wrong though).

There is no servo installed on my boat. It's old enough that it still has 2 speedos.

Just from looking at both company's websites it appears as though the prices are very similar.

ZO is for drive by wire motors only, so won't work with your engine. Your options on a 99 Air would be PP Stargazer or Hydrophase Ridesteady (for GPS).

Thanks Tom.

I bought the Hydrophase Ridesteady for my 2002 Supra Launch and love it.. had it for 2 seasons now and never a problem. Justin was awesome to deal with during the purchasing process and tech support when I had a question on my install.

I have PP with the paddlewheel. Very happy with it. Easy to install and use and holds speed well. I would give RideSteady a look. They came out with their system a year or two after I got mine, I may have gone that route if it was available at the time.

You can upgrade PP with a paddle wheel to GPS with Nauticlogic. I did & it works great.................
