Given the current economy, I wonder what kind of discounts people are getting off MSRP? I am looking at either a new 2009 (left over) Moomba Mobius XLV, a Supra 21V, or a Supra 24SSV (trying to figure out what size I want). Anyway, I have some numbers but I'm trying to figure out:

1) if they are good deals
2) if I should buy a 2009 or wait for the boat show and get a 2010.

Is a good deal 10% off MSRP, 5%, 20%? I'm wondering what I should shoot for. All are new with 0 hours.

The dealer in my area just sold a 2009 SUPRA Worlds Edition 22V for $54k. Unheard of, thats easily a $70k boat in a good market. I would think 10% minimum would be normal, if not more. Also depends on your financing, credit score, cash buyer, etc...

With those boats listed, I would shoot for the 24SSV, that is a sweet ride and you can never have too much room!

I am not sure what the normal MSRP is for a Supra but when I was selling Mastercrafts 10% off during current year models and peak season was normal and 20+ off was pretty typical of closeout boats.

The thing is that MSRP is just a made up number that in some cases is absolutely insane. I have seen Calabria ProV's that say they have an MSRP or 70k. I don't know why anybody would pay over or even close to 50k for a new ProV. Even if you pay 50k you are getting 30% off MSRP.

You are better off just talking actual dollar figures than % off MSRP.

I would expect to pay between 40-45k for an 09 XLV, probably the same for the 21v and between 50-55k for the 24SSV.

Wow. I'm amazed to see this considering what people ask for used boats. If you assume that you can get at least 10 percent off of new in the current model year, there are many people that are still asking more than 50 percent of their origional purchase price 10 years later.

I'm wondering if these boats really hold their vlaue that well, or if people are just unrealistic.

If I had to guess I'd say new boat prices have increased so much that used boat values haven't depreciated as much as they should/would have if the new boat market hadn't increased so much.

They do hold their value that well, many used sellers are unrealistic, and I think your guess is right on.

I'm about to make my decision on two boats...both new. An XLV and the Epic 23v. The Epic dealer has come down to $43k and the Moomba dealer has also come down to $42k.

In this economy, expect at least 30%. If I were you, I would get a left over Nautique 230/236. You can get some loaded 2008's in the mid $50's.
