hi,who prefers the boardshorts with the liner that goes from hip to knee and doesn't wrap around your leg at any point.or do you prefer the ones with the liner that stops at your crotch.i prefer the ones with the full hip to knee liner.if you prefer the full liner could you recommend a brand/model that is good.

no liner, what are you talking about, like a bathing suit for a little kid, with built in briefs?

In my experience, only the white or very light colored boardshorts have liners, and I've only seen the full liner.

I'm a big fan of Hurley.

O'Neill makes a board short with a liner that is sewed into the short. I'm still trying to find them in my size but they are sweet. It makes them a bit thicker and a lot more comfy. I have some quiks with a liner that just hangs like boxers.

I had some jetpilots that were linered, they called em "Rideshorts" though.

For just out riding, they were pretty sweet. But for hanging around on the boat all day... Not so much.

So do none of the pros were any "protection" underneath. My greatest discovery is Under Armor because it is supportive and dries quickly!

I don't see how guys rock nothing under these thin board shorts. Maybe I fall too much, but the boys would be in for a rough day if I didn't have some something to minimize the "movement".

Oh I get it. Like the Mesh liner that is connected to the shorts, same shape as the whole short. Yeah I hate those too, I cut the liners out usually. Makes the stay wet longer.

the liners on the Hurleys are silky smooth and you cant tell they are there IMO ,they are a little neccessary as white shorts when wet may be a little revealing and riding with a bunch of dudes ,thats not cool..:-)

its bad enough with all these riders on crack ,i dont want their junk staring at me either :P

WakeMikey - I don't really want to talk about your under garmets but try some Under Armor. It will change your life!

I second the under armor under the boardshorts. I think that any of the oneil "freak" boardshorts are the most comfortable out there when riding

O'Neill Mens Surf Boxer. You can buy them at Barts and not have your crack showing.

Boardshorts and some nice quick dry water specific boxers are where its at. The jet pilot crown jewel ride short has a neoprene/wetsuit-esque liner. Very comfortable but your nuts would sweat themselves off on a hot day. I think it might be designed for surfing in kind of colder waters but not too cold (at least that is how I interpreted their use).

Under armour for the white boardshorts, otherwise its commando all the way.

Steve I believe its: "You mean like the interneting in my shorts?"

I hate any sort of netting in shorts, but do wear .5mm compression shorts underneath my riding shorts for support and a little bit of protection from ball slap.

I have always been a netless, boxerless freeballer myself, but have often questioned that when I stradle the peak of the wake on a fall. I have had to actually check to see if the boys were still there. Thought they came off and sunk to the bottom of the lake.
