So my buddy let another buddy take his boat out for a spin the other day and he goes and mulches the prop on a rock for us... Anyways figure we could upgrade to a new prop. We usually ride about 4 or 5 deep with 1000 to 2000 lbs. of ballast. I know nothing about props... can you mix brands? go with 3 or 4 blade??? Please HELP!!! Boat is a 1987 Supra Sun Sport Direct drive with the 351 windsor. I appreciate the help!!!

It seems like the consensus on DD wakeboats is the acme or oj cnc 13x11.5 3 blade.
hope that helps.

Well Wess and Jesse I don't want to hijack your thread, but my 87Sunsport is my first inboard. I've got a thread goin on my ride but it has turned into an all things older Supra thread. Lots of other people posting their rides. I'd love it if you'd come over and post w/ us or link me to your threads! Do you surf? Do you have any more pics or threads? Please post!

I have yet to really sack out my SunSport or have much experience at all with her and your input would really be invaluable to me at this stage. :-) Thanks!

<<acme or oj cnc 13x11.5 3 blade>>
Anyone know WHY this is recommeded? I am seeing many other people use like a 14x14.25 4 blade. Why the pitch differences and why only a 3 blade?

WakeMikey, Most direct-drive boats around your year were primarily meant for skiing at 34-36 mph with no extra weight in them. If your transmission is 1:1 ratio, stock prop could be something like 13 X 13 or close to it.

Now load that boat with ballast and peeps, to make it hold speed at 22-25 mph you need a lower pitch prop such as 13 X 11.5.
The 14.25 X 14 (4) blade props are meant for v-drive boats with gear-reduction transmissions. (MC, Malibu, etc.)

Don't guess, call Eric at OJ or call ACME. They both will be very helpful.
