Hey guys Just purchased a 2009 axis a22 with the standard prop. just wanted to know how much weight i will be able to put into it and still plane out... it didnt come with the plug and play but it has the 900lb bow sac plumbed in and i have the 2 400lb rear sacs i am getting ready to install.... i have had 7 people the bow 3/4 full and the stock ballast full plus a 600lb sack in the floor towards the rear with the wedge down and she seemed to get on plane just fine.... i am not able to but i new prop right now just didnt know once i put the extra 800lb in the rear if i will be able to plane out?? just looking for some experience on this..... thanks

Keep it even, less than 2k you should be fine I bet - without knowing how Axis boats handle weight. Even with extra ppl, 1700 lbs and wedge should plane off if you were planing with 1300 plus 7 ppl

Just keep adding weight till it won't get on plane. Then take some out

I have the Acme 1235 on my 08 VLX with the 320hp LCR motor and wished it had more pull. I run about 3800lbs of ballast only with no wedge. My friend has a 2012 Axis A22 and he put the 15x12 Acme 2315 on it and has nothing but good things to say about it. "I put the 2315 (15"x12pitch) Acme prop on and HOLY s***!! I had 1900lbs in the back 950 in front, Factory ballast, 6 people and the wedge in the full 1250lb mode. It planed off with no problem." He also keeps his boat on a lift at the dock and does not have to make long runs to his riding spot, so that may be a factor for you. If long runs are a factor, I wouldn't suggest anything more aggressive than the Acme 1235.

As for weighting the boat, I would try out different setups, but it sounds like you want to weight it awfully heavy in the front. I've heard from many people that my friends A22 weighted as mentioned above is the best Axis wake they have ridden, so you may want to try that once you upgrade the prop. I too like the suggestion of weighting it till it won't plane off, dumping some weight and your good to go.

Sort of off topic, but has anyone tried an Acme 2315 on a 05-08 VLX? Results?

My rule of thumb. Get a different prop too.

If you have the 950 bow sack plumbed in, on a switch, then you do have the plug n play. the rear sacks are just piggybacked from your tank. +1 with what everyone else says. Those 400's can be filled completely full in the lockers, then fill your bow 950 all the way. Don't add that 600 until you know you can plane with all your stock an pnp ballast full. With the 400's all the way full (rated at 550 i think according to the website) and the wedge, you will need the front sack full and may not be able to have that 600 on the floor without additional bow weight.

As for props, I have the OJ cinco with my 335, but I have heard good things about the Acme 1235 and also about acme's new 15" props as mentioned above. The OJ Core is an option if you don't have a long drive on the water to get to your riding spots, it has a lot of bottom pull but top speed is 35mph.

no the front bag is a custom thing the guy before me had installed.. it all fills from one pump so after the center tank fills it fills the front sack. So Johnny if i have the front sack filled with the back 800 sac plus the stock it will be about 2650 give or take plus wedge... so i hope this prop i have will pull it out!

okay, got it. That will take a long time to fill the front sack that way, but its cool that you don't have to throw a pump over the side to fill it. The rears can be piggybacked easily. 2650 plus wedge will be a very nice wake. If you have the stock prop (acme 537 i believe) you may struggle a bit to get it up on plane, but I think it will do it. Is that custom sack under the bow cushions or on top?

Under the bow cushion.. It does take a while but I have only went out on the boat 4 times. I have had the boat 2 weeks and we haven't even filled the front sack up all the way and it's throwin a beast to me and my crew ... Were commin from a direct drive supra launch so major improvement!!

Can someone clarify which prop is the lowest for the a22 and what the orders are. I always hear core, high altitude, 1235 etc and not sure which is which any more. Did axis change the core or has it always been the same??? Also are the 2079 and the 2315 the core or are they lower. My friend has an a22 and wants to add just a little more weight I think he has the 2012 core whichever that is.

Mason, not sure if it changed in 2013, but pretty sure in 2012 it was as previous years. standard = acme 537, high alt = acme 1235, core = OJ Core (which is really similar to the Acme 1615 that some guys bought). So I am betting he has the OJ Core. The OJ core has a top speed of 35-36 but a lot of whole shot, the new acme 15" props have a little better top speed but I have not seen a core vs acme 15 in a side to side yet.

So the 2079 and the 2315 are pitched lower than the core? What is the pitch on the core?
Old     (JohnnyDefacto)      Join Date: Mar 2010       08-21-2012, 8:27 PM Reply
i have no idea about the pitch on any of those. I had the core, I think the pitch was 12, now I have the OJ cinco which i like a lot better, but it has a little bit less hole shot than the core.

The OJ is a 14" prop I believe, and the acmes are 15, so I don't know how that will affect the pitch of each prop.
