I have an extra head unit that I am going to use in my garage. I've purchased a transformer that converts the house 120 to 12 volts.

I hooked it up to 2 speakers and it works great

I also want to be able to toggle between using the Kenwood unit and an old car 8 track player that I have.

I'm thinking about running speakers that are specific to each unit, but I want them to share the power source.

I'm thinking that I can use a 3 way toggle, but the toggles that I have found don't offer an ability to attach power and ground from the source (transformer). Am I missing something obvious?

anyone recommend a switch that will work?

on 1: provides power to Kenwood.....
off
on 2 provides power to 8 track player

Am I missing something obvious? -Besides the fact that all can be covered by a bluetooth speaker and a cell phone? lol. Sorry, had too.

A 3 way rocker should work, no? similar to the way a rocker switch is used to fill/empty ballast with an aerator set up anyway. They share a common ground, Main power from source and individual source power on each end of the rocker.

Attach the ground to both units and toggle the power to each.

You are wanting a DPDT switch. But a DPST will work since only power needs switching.

Correction "SPDT". Single Pole Dual Throw.

thanks guys! I'm restoring a 1970 Superbee. I've got an original AM 8 track player to put in it. The 8 tracks are available, but do require rebuilding. It will be nice to be able to test them from the work bench.
