Hey Guys,

I need some advise. I started wakeboarding back in the late 90's. Then 9/11 hit and I lost everything my job, my brand new 2001 Sky Supreme v drive and went through a divorce. I am now ready to get back into boating and wakeboarding.

I have saved about 16k. I am looking at a 1997 Maristar 200vrs with 278 hours and 2 owners. I can get the boat for 16k. Here is the link for the Maristar.

https://modesto.craigslist.org/boa/5337763387.html

I am not sure how the wake is for wakeboarding, wakesurfing or resell later on down the road. I also have seen a 1995 Super Sport Nautique listed for 16.5k not sure how many hours yet. Then there is a 1998 Prostar 205 with 455 hours very clean for 18k it is not a v drive tho. I know that the hull change with the Maristar in 1998. So should I save a little more and get a 98 or 99 Maristar. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Nick

I haven't seen for myself, but have only heard that the Maristar is not a great wake maker. That 205 and SS Nautique on the other hand are both known to be great sport boats. Although its not a V, that 205 would be a great boat.

Unless its beat, you can't go wrong with a SS Nautique. That hull still produces the most wake per gallon out there.

I would try to find a 205v. There should be a decent number of them available, and in your price range. It will most likely have more hours compared to the others, but if it's well cared for, I wouldn't rule it out. That will be a much better wakeboard wake, compared to a prostar 205.

That Nautique super sport is basically a super air (same hull). If that one checks out, that would be a killer boat. I would take that over the 98 prostar which is a DD and not a vdrive. You will get the best wake from that Nautique.

There was a 2000 Super Air for sale on Planetnautique for 17K. Saw it last week, don't know if it's still available. But if it is and it's in good shape I'd grab it before it's gone if I were you.

Wakedude - buy this http://sacramento.craigslist.org/boa/5441354884.html

I'd jump on it though, I sold the same boat for 24k this summer.

So I picked up a 1999 Maristar 205vrs with 830 hours. It has been maintained very well. I got it for 15k. It needs a few things here and there, but over all it runs great and handle the chop pretty good today. Took it out today and the wake is very nice with no weight even the surf wake was nice. I have attached some pics. I am going out tomorrow I will post some of the wake. Thank you guys for input and replies.
