I heard, or read somewhere that Goofy is actually the more prominent stance.?.

It's cold and I had a cancelation and thus the thread born from boredom.

Me: Goofy, my son rides regular.

Um, silly question maybe, but how many of the goofies(sp?) are also lefties? Does it matter?

I'm regular, but my friend who started out single skiing rides goofy cause that's the way she learned to single ski.

Not silly and hand orientation, as far as I know, has nothing to do with it. I surf, skate and board goofy. So does my sis. My son does it all regular. We are all right handed. However I played left wing in hockey and soccer. Nothing to do with nothing I reckon.

Family of four, all regular.
Although, both of our sons ride switch just as well as they ride regular. So well in fact, that most people, including many judges, have no idea what their prominent stance is
And I'm mongo on a skateboard...

4 goofy, 4 regular. I'm one of the regulars. I'm regular and right handed for everything I do. Some of you guys are pretty screwey.
Old     (eubanks01)      Join Date: Jun 2001       01-13-2010, 9:02 AM Reply
I ride goofy but I am right footed. It seems strange because I think in wakeboarding your rear foot has much more of the job in controlling your board. So that means my weaker foot.

I wonder if other sports play into it. I played soccer all the way through high school, and while I was right footed, all the planting and stabilization type stuff was done with my left. Like basketball, jumping off of my left. Hmm...

Regular

I think it has more to do with your dominant eye than your actuall legs tho, if your left eye is your dominant eye I think you tend to put that foot forward and vice versa.
Old     (lfrider92)      Join Date: Sep 2008       01-13-2010, 10:54 AM Reply
never thought about that jason.. my left eye is WAY better then my right, and i ride regular. so thats possible..
Old     (snowslider76)      Join Date: Mar 2002       01-13-2010, 11:02 AM Reply
You can easily figure out what eye is dominant by making a circle with your fingers, then put something on the wall accross the room in the circle, use both eyes. Then close one eye and the other without moving your circle, whatever eye keeps the object in your circle is your dominant eye. I bet 99% of the time the dominant eye is the same foot you put forward. Just my .02 tho not science
Old     (bcrider)      Join Date: Apr 2006       01-13-2010, 11:05 AM Reply

Both my parents and older brother are left handed. I'm right handed although I:

Write - Right
Hockey - Left
Golf - Right
Throw - Left
Catch better left but taught myself to catch right
Kick a ball - either but slightly better left.
back hand frisbee - left
fore hand frisbee - right
Shoot - left
Snowboard - either but slightly better Reg
Wakeboard - Reg
Pool - Right hand on Cue.

I believe it all depends on which way you learn.
