I'm going to be in Dallas this week and plan to check out the new CowTown wake park on Friday. I've been riding behind a boat for about 4 years now and consider myself an intermediate level rider. But I've never been pulled by any type of cable and never hit any sliders/kickers. Any advice for a newbie on these things? I'm hoping to figure out how to do more than just ride laps around the lake.

Sliders and kickers make the cable what it is in my opinion... On a wakeboard it is almost impossible to catch an edge compared to a snowboard, so be confident, but be sure to stay flat based... Bend your knees a lot and remember that you have to stay centered, a big flat box resembles a sheet of ice more than anything else, which means you can do whatever you want but it's slick. Coming in on your heels even if it's switch is a lot easier than your toes when you're starting too.

ask for help from people there. Don't edge on the obstacles, flat on flat.

Thanks for the tips, and good article. What about air tricks? I know you can load the line and launch yourself in the straightaways, but i haven't seen a good description of how to actually do that.

I rode wakenation houston a few times and wanted to add air rolls and air raleys to my trick bag and found that these videos really helped.

Air roll - http://youtu.be/tNyjTPBbx-U

Air Raley - http://youtu.be/TwEQgc72CIA

I found it's all in the "release" of the board and it helped to practice on a 2.0 cable a couple times before trying it on a full size cable.

Good luck
