weres vandall and tino and a few others? Do they have to qualify on day 1 or is that part over? Seems like the both of them have finished high enough to qualify

Qualifying is over, top 40 who have paid their entry fees were invited to MN.

If you did not pay your entry fees by the required deadline, you were not invited regardless of your ranking. I would guess they did not.

The deadline for MN was May 26th, 2 weeks prior to the event. All riders were sent emails reminding them of the deadline and rules.

If qualified riders have not registered the opening goes to the individual who registered the earliest.

If you want a chance at those you register for all events as soon as registration opens. This year it started on 4/1 at 8:00pm.

Dont a lot of these guys have sponsors to take care of registration for them? Or an assistant?

okay.... maybe i'm way outta the loop... but where has Harf been in these? I've been lookin around but haven't seen him around at all. He isn't hurt is he?

How did Ryan Anderson get to the top 18 riders in Jnr Mens, he didnt compete at the Acworth stop and didnt do so well in Texas. How does that work.
Old     (mobv)      Join Date: Jun 2002       06-03-2008, 3:06 AM Reply
nEwJ - for the Juniors it is mostly parent sponsors and assistants. For the pro's few are making enough to afford an assistant. I don't see the "boat, board, clothing, etc." sponsors active enough with their teams to provide that service.

Nick, in the Juniors there are 2 people there who are there because of organization. I'm haven't studied the pro's closely enough.

Ben, Harf is hurt. He was in Acworth but didn't ride. I didn't see him in Fort Worth.

Fred, The tour is supposed to be the top 18 plus to wild cards chosen by WWA. Ryan was chosen by WWA because he was injured and didn't ride in Acworth. WWA chooses based on past performance, sponsors, and name recognition. Similar to a "sponsor exemption" on the pro golf tour.

I see where Eddie V and Nick Davies aren't going.
Here is the official rule- substitute 18 riders for Jr Men

"The 38 positions are protected and will be filled from the entries received in the order in which they appear on the 2008 Pro Tour Ranking list (top 38). The other 2 spots will be filled by two (2) Wild Card entries for the capped PWT events. Media exposure & past contest results will be the criteria used to select these riders.

Once the "2 Week Entry Deadline" has passed, entries will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis, until the 40-competitor limit is reached without consideration for position on ranking lists."

It has been this way as far as I can recall. Some riders chose not to go. The riders need to take responsibility if they forgot. Also- the top 38 and 18 can change from week to week. There are 6 or 7 guys who are top 38 but aren't going to MN. They could be bumped out of top 38 or 18 for next stop.

If it wasn't for me Nicola wouldn't even take her boardbag, let alone pay her entry fee.david, why is Nick Davies not there?

Chris I don't think he paid his entry fee by the cut off date and did not get invited as David posted above.

Are the womens heats up anywhere???

no wonder some riders rebel against contest riding. Thata weak sauce the listings are posted on the home page and tino is ranked 12th. but not invited????? Is it about paying fees or the best riders competing??
Old     (kneeboarddad)      Join Date: Sep 2005       06-03-2008, 2:00 PM Reply
Nick- He didn't sign up. It is all about the top rated riders riding but they have to sign up.

Chris- When they're still kids I think the parents should help make sure it is done. I know I use to watch for the first day of registration and enroll for all the stops, make all the travel arrangements, pay for the hotels, get a car, etc. The first year as a pro Austin would call often to help figure it out but now I have nothing to do with it and none of the sponsors do either. It is up to Austin to make sure he registers, gets there, etc. He didn't realize how good he had it.

I don't think Nick signed up. what about eddie?

Hi Nick, although I share your frustration, there has to be rules established to run the tour in the most efficient manner. I think that they do a great job and really, it is the fault of the person responsible to get the registering done in time. It is NOT the responsibility of the tour to babysit to make sure that the registration is taken care of.

The heats posted for Jr Men and Pros isn't 100% accurrate. It looks like it was based on the order given for competing athletes but that list isn't the correct ranking order, i.e.- Murray is ranked alot higher than 37th as list would indicate.

Wayne is there an error in Jr.s? I went off the current ranking and followed the seeding break down from the PWT rule book? Let me know if I messed up.

No Tino, Harf, or Harris... I didnt see Lidbergs name up there either and hes from MN.... Thats to bad because those are some heavy hitters that I really enjoy watching. I really wanted to see Tino and what he would be riding this weekend.

what happened to Jacob Valdez, I was told he was the up and comming jnr mens rider, and that he would be another rider that would be very competitive on the Jnr mens Pro Tour circuit.
Somebody had said somewhere before that he was the best 14 yr old rider in the world.
I just dont see him on the above list.

HI Fred, well, what happened is exactly how YOU answered the question about Jacob before. He had school work that required his attention and he had tweaked his knee a bit. We want him to be on top of the school situation and to have his knee checked out.

As far as Murray goes, there's alot of riders ranked ahead of him who are not competing so he moves up. For this tournament,he's ranked number 30. This is what I think are the heats noting that the last 6 heats only have 3 people because the last 6 people to be seeded have zero points so they will be arbitrarily assigned seeds 35-40. The other issue is that alot of people have the same points (ie Rathy and Hair) and both did the same last tournament so I'm not sure who will be seeded higher. That said,
1-Fields, Chad,Murray, Giardi
2-B-Hutt, Shane, Grassman, O'Ferrell
3-Andrew, SOB, Zane, Palma
4-Trevor, Ruck, D. Miller, Trask
5-Oli, K. Alberts, Thollander,?
6-Watson, Smeele, A. Brown, ?
7-Adam E., Rathy, Dean, ?
8-Rusty, Hair, B. Lee,?
9-JD, Josh, Bradley, ?
10-Phillip, Hindes, Rattray, ?
The ? include Nick W, Wattley, Haynes, Hollick, Wolf, and Vedel.

Not entered included Tino, Randall, Watkins, Roby Carter, Weatherall

Randy, Jr's wrong also. Alex will either be in 4th or 5th heat (he's tied with Thomson and Homsey and both he and Homsey got 3rd in their heat on Sat, Thomson got 4th).
5th heat-Jimmy, Steel, Scagliotti (or Homsey), Anderson
4th heat- Harley, Aslinger, Homsey (or Alex), Shuler
3rd heat- Robert, AJ, Sam Thomson, Bannatyne
2nd- Julian, Askew, Powers, Kirby
1st-Ryan king, Derome, Cahill, Burnstein.

Wayne, I think he is in heat #4 with Harley, he was a higher seed then Homsey going into Atlanta, they all look hard to me. It's going to be rough condions from what I'm reading, rain & 15 to 20 MPH winds.

those jr mens heat are stacked...
Old     (kneeboarddad)      Join Date: Sep 2005       06-04-2008, 2:20 PM Reply
Ok- Here is how they seed the heats:

1 20 21 40
2 19 22 39
3 18 23 38
4 17 24 37
5 16 25 36
6 15 26 35
7 14 27 34
8 13 28 33
9 12 29 32
10 11 30 31

3 guys, Rathey, Hair and Josh are tied would be seeded 17, 18 and 19. Bradley and Lee are tied and seeded 22 and 23. Tholander, Smith, Alex Brown and Dylan Miller are tied and will be seeded 23-27. There are others below who are tied. Hair, Rathey and Josh will be in heats 7, 8 and 9 and could go up against any of the guys seeded 23-27 in heats 7 and 8. I am assuming Rathey will be 17, Hair 18 and Josh 19 if they base it on who had higher seeds coming to it. Bradley should be 22 and Lee 23. Then it would be Smith, Danny, Alex and Dylan. If that be the case it would then look like this:

Heat 1
Fields, Sharpe, Zane and Palma
Heat 2
Hutton, Shane, Grassman, Trask
Heat 3
Andrew, Obrien, Shaun, Marcelo
Heat 5
Oliver, Kyle Alberts, Brown, Whatley
Heat 6:
Watson, Smeele, Dean, O Ferral
Heat 7
Errington, Rathey, Tholander, Haynes
Heat 8
Rusty, Hair, Lee, Vedel
Heat 9
JD, Josh, Corey, Hollick
Heat 10:
Phil, Hindes,Rattray,Wolf

I can't believe I just sat here and tried to figure that out.
