Ok, not everyone here has a true wakeboat, so lets see pics of you getting air behind your I/O! I would love to see what a pro can do behind a baylier, would there be tricks he couldnt land?

My buddy was throwing backrolls behind my old bayliner. He could do all his grabs and 180s. That was with no weight in the boat. I might have pics i will look for them.

sorry...no pics....but search you tube for some old school stuff; it'll amaze you how long some of the most difficult inverts have been around....long before tech boards/bindings and massive wakes. i'm sure there are some tricks they couldn't (or wouldn't want to) do, but when you're that good, it's all technique....most of us (emphatically including myself) like a big wake because it allows for less technique.

I will say that driving and maintaining wake shape on an i/o vs. wakeboat is a lot different!

I used to have an old 89 FourWinns and with about 1100lbs in it it threw a fat wake and you could get a pretty fat wake off of it

this is me three years ago behind my parents outboard 17.5 ft bayliner. no weight. i get massive air off a wakeboat now since i practiced so long behing this..

That bayliner wake doesn't look bad at all.

Those are my roots. I learned all my basics up to whirlybirds and 540s behind my dads outboard bayliner. I still enjoy a couple of sets a year behind it. We built an extended pylon for it in the mid 90s. I bet it is at least 12' tall.

You would be surprised how much weight you can actually get in a bayliner. I love the bayliner... haha!!

I used to have an old Bayliner with a 5.0L V8 that threw a pretty decent wake with just one 500lb sack in the bow and the prop trimmed up about 1/4. Didn't even have a tower...just a Skylon Pylon.

Arun Frances was probably the first person I saw throw inverts behind it. His first trick out of the water was a HUGE O.H.H. and we all said "Damn!!!" Ron Cafferky was another guy that killed it behind my boat. He was throwin' Crow Mobes, Gigantic HS Front Flips, Raleys, Hoochies, etc. It was nuts to see and just made me realize that yea, a big wake helps, but if your fundamentals are correct, you can do most of the same stuff behind an I/O.

Starts first time everytime, puts out about the same wake as a jet ski! but I LOVE HER to DEATH. If it werent for her I would have nothing!

BUT with her I get to wakeskate everynight!
Its pretty crazy though. The weight limit is 550 pounds or 5 people and we have had two 450 lb fat sacks, cement blocks and people in there, but the wake still only about a foot tall!

My gf behind my '07 Maxum 1800 SR3. With the merc Hi-5 and a 600lb skylon locker sack, the wake is pretty much dialed. Just waiting on Perfect Pass.

You ever tried to keep a nice peak while driving an I/O without perfect pass? Pretty damn near impossible.

Depends on where you are riding too. I know in mission bay its pretty much impossible to get good clean water. Have to deal with a lot of chop most of the time since there are 1000 idiots out on wave runners.

If you adjust your trim you can sometimes get it pretty peaked. I have started keeping it a little less than 1/4 of the way up, and it helps keep a better lip on the wake.

Nice Ian, how much weight are you running there?

I've got a pic on my profile, but still not much air there. I need to get the boat running again (waiting on a new alternator) and get out there this winter and get more air, and more pictures of it... Been too long, and surfing is hard work compared to wakeboarding.

in that pic its actually without the sack. No ballast, but having the hi-5 prop helps, and thats with the trim slightly up. 4 people in the boat, 2 in the back, 2 up front. I have a 600lb skylon locker sack that makes it much better. Will have pics after this weekend.

That's at roughly 24mph (no PP) and 75'. Those kayots put out a d@mn nice wake, I was impressed. And only 1 person in the boat!

Steve you know Gary and Chad? I was just out there on the Kayot a couple weeks ago and rode/surfed behind it. Definitely awesome wake! I built their website, hang out with those guys quite a bit. Might be meeting up with chad @ the river this weekend.

the reason my budies centurions wake is washed out is because he had just bought it and did not hav the wake dialed in. and he was also goiong slower then i usually ride at. his first boat. he was keeping it going bout 17 mph. i told him to kick it up to at least 22mph. now it is peaked like no other with faster speed plus he put an 800 lb sac in the bow, a 250 in the center, and a 400 lb stock ballast in the back lockers.

and i think this would giv off a sik wake if it wasnt run up on a sandbar

I didn't know how to post the picture...so..I posted the website. We're all new to the sport and we're riding behind a Crownline...I don't know anything else other than it's red. LOL!! I notice most people at least have a tower. The first time I ever wakeboarded I had a tower. I wish I could get behind one now just to see the difference!!! Then again I'd prolly kill myself!!

The second pic is prolly a year old I think. Hahah I know the first pic isn't alot of air, I just like the sun hitting the fin. 16 foot Larson with no tower and no weight, and only a driver and spotter. Get alot higher now, just don't have any pics of it.
