This week I want to go for my first air tricks. I know you are supposed to load the line by edging out as hard as you can then scooping but whenever I try to scoop I feel as if I'm just cutting toeside and nothing is happening. Sometimes I feel a little jerk and my board actually gets picked up only of the water a few inches but I defiantly need some tips for real air tricks.

hey can you do any flips?
i can do both the tricks you asked about on your post, but I'm confused with your post, both those tricks are pretty hard tricks to do if you can't do any flips or not familiar with loading the line?

What Chris said. Air tricks are pretty up the totem pole, lock down all of your spins and inverts off the kick and get comfortable in the air and upsidedown before you start pushing air tricks. It also depends where you are riding... Clockwise or counterclockwise matters, or even if it's 2pt towers vs. full system.

I can tantrum, scarecrow, toeside frontroll, and toeside backroll. And spin wise heel 3 and toe 3.

The fact that you are not faceplanting when you do your scoop tells me that you aren't even close. Throwing an air trick is a total commitment. There is no "little bit" to it. If you are edging as hard as you can when you scoop then you are probably tapped out on your edge and can't put anymore into it.

Try edging about 50%. Then when you want to throw the trick, lay into your edge 110% while carving your board away from the cable into a sharp hook. Look over your lead shoulder and hang on with a death grip. What happens next is automatic... the water will grab the board, stretch the cable, then the rebound will yank you up and forward while the water throws your board into the air behind you. Looking towards your shoulder will throw a roll, which is much kinder on the fall than a raley if you don't throw it hard enough.
