just had my fiberglass behind my tower mounts beefed up and reinforced. they used chop matte for adhesion to the existing hull and weave for strength, 2 additional layers of each in as big of an area as possible to get to. Id give you the name of the guys I used but the guy did a terrible job matching my gel coat for some holes they told me they would fill as part of the job. When I asked for them to be corrected, he got smart with me and said he'd drill them out and return the spots to holes since he did them for "free". I paid $600 to have the 4 mounts reinforced and thats after i removed the tower and all the interior panels to allow access to the reinforced areas -which was at least 4hrs of the job. They did end up fixing the holes.... two weeks later. If i were to do it again, i'd probably just do it myself. they didn't use any special resin and by the time i removed everything 80% of the work was probably done. As you mentioned before a bigger area to spread the load over will help.
