I've heard rumors for awhile now. I would think it is time for an update since it has been out like 6 years. Any word? Rumors? Guesses?

My last post was directed at Josh, just so there's no confusion. I'm with Rob. An $80k boat that you need to add a zillion pounds to make the wake awesome is not a perfect boat.

I agree with Josh... don't ruin something that's perfect..

They changed the interior colours and patterns and gel coat graphics... keeps it fresh...

Yes, the "why change the perfect boat" thing is a total joke!! If you guys really believe you can't make the X-star better, you lack some serious imagination! :-) It's going to change...that's for sure. How knows when?

I'd like to see more interior seating, more freeboard and boardracks to hold 8 boards, she fills up fast with 4-6 riders and a surf or two.

I think its funny that people bash the star for needing tons of weight and then put 5K in their own boats. Let's be honest here, most boats need a good amount of weight for decent displacement. I don't know anyone that ride frequently that doesn add weight to their boat including V-rides, X-1's old Super Airs, etc. Not saying I wouldnt ride stock ballast in these boats, just saying I don't know anyone that does.

keep the hull. change it to a cab forward design, loose some of the bow to make a bigger interior. Add back rests ala the 236, and a center back facing seat.

some how make it less susceptible to nose dipping, while keeping that aggro look.

then it would be perfect.

Here's a spy photo of MC's next perfect X-Star:

Hee, hee.

Cory, you have a good point. It's just disappointing for how much we pay for these boats and we still need to add a ton of ballast. BTW, I need to give you a call right now.

i would assume it is safe to say that the new xstar (whenever it comes out) will be the most anticipated release to date. pricipally due to the significance of it's two predecessors.

Copying anything from Correct Craft's interior would be a big mistake on MasterCraft's part. If you want to look back, sit in the bow or passenger seat. The new 210 and 220 make me think I'm in a Bayliner.

I agree with Justin. Why go from Billet aluminum to plastic. New CC's are loaded with plastic, probably comes from China like their new tower does.

Wake, that is a killer Malibu.

Cory, I agree with your comments regarding more interior seating, more freeboard and boardracks to hold 8 boards. I think it would also be great to have more rear facing seating options...yes, kind of like the 210. I'm guessing they will do something around that, even if it's just a rear facing seat behind the driver.

In my opinion the current Xstar is pretty basic. Mastercraft has the abilty to make it amazing. Mastercraft should stop designing Cobalt competitors and focus an a new, dope as can be, X!

I would have to say that none of the interiors compare to Malibus.
One thing I think mastercraft should work on is their handling. They drive like a box in the water. I know it has to do with picklefork design but they should work on that.

Drive like a box? Not sure it's to do with the pickle fork... it's a V entry... I know the side chines dig in on a sharp turn but it still handles well... I do recall a Mastercraft ventilating the prop like a typical stern drive or outboard in a quick and sharp corner...

Maybe they should put a wedge on them. Malibus drive so well with one of those hanging off the back.

the csx will take over for the xstar. the x1 will go back to being the xstar. in 2010 the csx will be the pwt boat.

Have you driven a new X-Star? They handle a lot better than ANYTHING else, especially when weighted. Sure I work for the company, but I drive everything and can say that without a doubt. Come spend 8 hours in one weighted in a contest setting. It drives circles around anything else.

Seriously... We can whip fully loaded turns in the delta. The X turns better than any loaded boat I've been in, and That's pretty much everything.

They all need a ton of extra weight on top of factory ballast. The Epic is the only one that doesn't.

I love the X. There are a few things they could add/change. I like the idea of more board racks. I wouldn't mind a rearward facing seat behind the drivers seat, but one thing I love is the huge bow area.

Bow area is great for stretching out in the sun when chillin out between runs and such....

Not trying to rock the boat or anything, just curious.

what is the purpose of the down turned bow?

Is there any problem dipping the tip?

is it so when you are are plowing along at 21 mph ballest full, you can see over it?

or is it just to get you wet?

I just don't get a design that turns the bow down. In the real world you will encounter wakes from other boats and your own that will wash right over a low bow.

It seems to me for functionality the bow should be turned up not down.

Bow rides nice when driving. Sight lines are great on theboat due to the bow dipping down.

All this nosediving everyone talks about can be pretty easily avoided by the driver. As for the real reason why it's turned down, who knows. Probably for the sight line, but it also looks dang good.

You gotta remember, although manufacturers know that extra weight will be added, they are not designed with 5000 lbs. of extra water in mind. If you put so much water in the boat that the rub rail is 6 inches off the water, you have to know that you will need to do some careful driving.
