What are some of the boats that should be in the $15,000 price range end of this boating season? The ski nautique 2001 was consistently in the 12-15k range for a while and seems to be coming down. So what boat models should now be falling into the 15k range?

Nice boat, but they should pay you to take it with a tower like that

Might find some late 90s Malibu VLXs without the wraparound seating. There were a few under 20k earlier this year.

The same boats that are 15-17k now... Prices won't move much. 2001s were never 12-15 LOL

2001s may have been 12-15 k in the early 90s... any v-drive in good shape wth tower and options will be tough to find in that peice range. Possible but tough.

Sport Nautiques with towers can be had for 15, master craft 205 direct drives with tower. Those are in the 15 range now. There is the random super sport and old xstar deals out there but the 2000 versions are really 18-25k... Anything mid to late 90s could be found for the 15 range though.

Our old boat (my brother bought it) would probably take 15-16k for this supersport by the end of the year:

^^^^ Nice ride for 15K in my opinion. Should be a GT-40 and open bow v-drive is going to be tough to beat for that price...

Agree. That boat has been on the market the last couple years...They should just pull the tower and sell without or re-mount the thing correctly. Horrible.

Do the prices go down at the end of the season or does the selection just dry up? Most of the over priced boats out there have been sitting on the market since long before the current season began. If they were willing to stick with their price all last winter then they probably aren't going to come to their senses before this winter either. Your best bet in my opinion is to buy during that brief period where everyone pulls their boats out of storage and puts them on the market at the same time. The tail end of that period is when I found my boat and I haven't seen anything I would have bought since then and I'm always looking.

The supply of boats will increase to a certain degree with people willing to deal as some, not all, have to pay for storage. People will sell and hope to buy again in the spring when everything is out of storage.

That's what I've noticed, anyway.

Ok 15k might have been too high on the 2001. It just seems that nothing has moved into the slot the 2001 and supra sunsport are leaving as they get 25 - 30 yrs old. I looked 3yrs ago with a 15k budget and I'm looking again now and not much has changed. Late 90s 205s, air and sport Nautiques, and Sunsetters are still listing at 17k-22k. If a vdrive pops up around 15k, its usually pretty beat up or a scam.

Is this due to the high cost of newer boats? Are people holding onto what they have longer, lowering the supply?

I think it is because of the price of new boats. Not because people are holding onto their used boats longer, but because the used value stays higher longer because the new boats are becoming so expensive. Older boats aren't depreciating and in some cases are appreciating. If prices continue the way they are you can buy a 5-15 year old used boat..use it for 5 years and resell for what you paid pretty easy.

Chances are you will be looking at the same boats you were looking at 3 years ago as prices have risen sharply the last 3 years and used prices have stayed firm because of it. Meaning a 1998 205 that was worth 15K 3 years ago....is worth 15K today. They haven't depreciated much at all.

96 205 on OI for 14... The mid 90s direct drives are 10-17, mid 90s vdrives are 15-20... There are deals.

It's actually getting worse. Not only are boats not depreciating, but they are holding values with higher and higher hours.
