The frame was powder coated white, and the byerly handle on the front is infact bent... i put my arm through it last summer behind a jet ski, no joke!

Looks really good....just one question how do you anchor it? Trailer hitch? Tie Downs?

what is youre gearing....have you tried it yet ??

Yea from the looks of it you forgot the trailer hitch on it. It is easy to steak it down or use tie downs to a tree or something but having the trailer hitch is about the most convenient way to keep it anchored

Other than that it looks great. I would buy one from you

no trailer hitch... we just got back from using it for the first time.... first pull ever was a complete success!!! It pulls really well !!! we are still discussing tie downs and what not. Yes, we will be using this winch tomorrow night at the 2nd annual Ohio State University Spring Wake Up call eve rail jam !

here's a really stupid general question, but when it's pulling, how does the line move back and forth evenly on the spool? please don't bash, i have no mechanical know-how (obviously).

I've seen windscreen wiper motors used as spool levelers.

Sorry jeremy... Im not sure about the sprocket sizes off the top of my head.. and my friends have the winch up in cleveland this week.. they are doing a few modifications. After using it all night at our rail jam we have a few very minor things to adjust. I can let you know about the gearing when i get the winch back here to columbus.

Here are a few good links for some good building advice...

Mike, to answer your question, the line does not wind evenly on the spool. If the rider cuts left or right, the line will build up on that side of the spool. Its pretty minor though, the driver does not need to adjust the speed any differently.. I guess the only real important thing to keeping a nicely wound spool is get the unused line on there nice and tight... For instance, my line is 1000 ft long. When I am winching a 300 ft long pond, i want to make sure that the first 700 ft is on there super tight so that the line doesnt dig into itself so to speak... this is necessary for a smoother pull...!

I was lucky, i had a friend do the powder coating for free. Im not sure how much it would have costed... but It is definitely worth doing! Its alot easier then prepping and painting, and it makes it so nice so much nicer and easier to carry, touch, clean, ect...

Another thing to note! My left forearm incredibly sore! Much much worse than any wakeboarding soreness. I normally ride right forward, thus my right arm is much stronger than my left, which leads me to believe that my left truly is sore from pull starting... its true..! ha
