Rookie move...forgot to switch the batteries off before storing for the winter. Pulled the boat out to check on it and make sure everything was good and both batteries are completely dead. I tried hooking up to the onboard charger. Nothing. Pulled the batteries out and hooked up to charger. Got a "bad battery" reading. I think they are both totally drained. A quick google search tells me that they are bricks now. Any chance of reviving them before I spend $$ on 2 new batteries? Thanks guys.

dead battery + cold snap = certain death.

Was the switch on BOTH?

Some battery’s can be brought back from the dead. They have guys that do battery restoration. I have had battery’s that were brought back (restored) $50 each. They were a $2000 dollar set of Golf Cart battery’s they were (Deka Gell battery’s) most flooded lead acid battery’s don’t respond well to restoration. If it was me I would just eat the cost and buy 2 new battery’s. Or have them restored $100 and Cary a Jumper box ($200) and keep your fingers crossed

they'll never be back to 100%. you may be able to convince your charger they're ok and get them to charge up and hold a charge, but they'll leave you stranded eventually. put that jumper box $ into new batteries.

Thanks guys. I thought so. Went ahead and replaced the batteries and chalked it up to a learning lesson. Appreciate the feedback.

IMO, just buy new batteries. Not worth the risk of being stranded. Even if someone can make them come back i would be worried about holding a charge.

@tampawake,

No real answer due to many variables. A single group-24 wet cell can give you a few hours of play time for a moderate system at a moderate volume. For larger systems that get repeated deep cycles of long play time at the sand bar, an AGM or pair or 2 of 6V golf cart batteries are best.

I have a 3 amp stereo system and just run 3 interstate batteries:

1 SR24 battery for starting
2 SR29 batteries for accessories/stereo
