So my boat has a Pro-flight tower with speakers on the top. I wanted to add a quick disconnect but it has seemed like they are only around in the complete wire harnesses. After a lot of searching on the internet it seems like Neutrik connectors are what everyone is using. I have two pairs of 6x9 speakers so I believe a four pole connector will work. I was thinking of the metal harsh environment model. Has anyone else done this? Easy to do? Did you use the screw terminal or solder the leads?

The parts I am looking at are:

Where or what exactly, are you wanting to quickly disconnect? The speaker pods so to remove them or the harness from the hull so you can lower the tower? Knowing the specific application will help with ideas. Packard and Deutsch both offer weather sealed connectors just for this type of application. They come in flat and square connectors. More work to build both halves of the connector, but they are excellent.

A 4 pole will work for 4 pods as long as each pair is wired together resulting in only 2 pairs running down the amp to the amp.

I plan on adding the disconnect so I can remove the upper part of the tower from the boat. The disconnect is for the speaker wires going to the top of the tower. I don't have lights right now and I am not sure I would add any soon. I have two pairs of speaker wire right now (4 individual strands). The speaker up top already have the banana style disconnect jacks up top. The disconnect I add will be where the tower pivots.

Why not just get speakers that disconnect? I have a pro flight tower also and went with the Fosgate tower speakers and they come off easy for storage.

There are tons of quality circular IP rated connectors. I would check out digikey.com (I would get IP67 rated)
