Can anyone explain to me if there is a difference on your wake of you run 1000 pounds on the surf side on the back corner or if you run 1500 pounds on the surf side back corner and 500 pounds in the front. In theory that should be the same thing correct ?.

Not really because with the weight in the front you are sinking the entire hull deeper. It's not just the angle that creates the wave but the amount of displacement of the hull as well. Sink it deeper equals better wave.... Theoretically.

your saying an extra 1000 pounds doesn't change anything? it most definitely does.

Weight upfront will lengthen the wave and be a bit shorter in height. If you put all that weight in the back it will be shorter wave but taller. Weight in different places changes everything as well as speed.

What we are trying to determine is having 1000 pounds just in the back or having 1500 in the back and 500 up front. What does that do to the boat because both are almost equal to having 1000 in the back.

It would/should be a bigger wave than just the 1000 in the back because you are still going to be lower in the water with more weight than without.

It depends on the hull / boat. My Malibu and other flat bottom type boats seem to like a lot of bow weight, in addition to a lot of rear weight. The deep v hulls don't seem to like a lot of bow weight. My Malibu I ran 1100 rear surf side, 600 in center floor and 750 in the bow. My MB likes 1100 surf side rear, stock surf tank full and no more than 400 in the bow or it starts to wash out the wave.
