which is the source of a quote that i guess describes how they maintain flex, which is all based on the fact that they are BASELESS --> "The RAD Boot binding is a baseless system that will allow the board to flex naturally and decrease some overall weight which is always a added bouns."
how exactly are the RAD bindings "baseless"? judging by the pics you posted, they look far from "baseless".

The same way ronix are baseless. Look at the photo that looks down into the boot and you'll see the board graphic.

Joe, I understand the past years of slingshot boots have had thin and or quite stiff footbeds ('07 the footbed was thin and inside the liner, '08-'09 it was inside the shell and acted as a base/hardware for bolts and was not the squishiest by anymeans, but that was also a benefit for a few people who needed a more solid footbed because of injuries or whatever.)

i don't know for sure, but it looks to me that the footbed is inside the liner, or rather attached to the bottom of the liner. I think (don't know for sure) that the entire blue layer is the footbed. check the pics again... would that not be enough room to put a foot inside minus the blue layer? looking at the pic of the toe-box zoomed in, you can see the stitches that typically sewed the bottom of the heat-formed liner to the top piece. the blue part has to be the footbed. which if it is it is a pretty thick one and definately different than past models. the bottom translucent grey piece is the tread

again, another quote from the source of the pics -> (though it does not mention "footbed")

"Think linner with a somewhat real sole for protection while out of your boots and plushness for stompin landings. The sole is is your base."

jeremy, (please don't take this as me being combative towards you ) i'm not so sure the benefits outweigh the risk. i don't know about you, but i've had heel bruises from riding. let me tell you; they're not fun at all, which is why i prefer bindings w/ thick and soft footbeds. i don't mean to come off as arrogant in saying this, but i like to go big. and when i do, i like knowing that my board, as well as the footbeds in my bindings, will help to absorb a lot of the shock of the landings. i'm not saying that slingshot riders don't go big or they don't like to go big. they all go big! like i said though, i've bruised my heel before and want to try to avoid that as much as possible. and as infrequent as i ride, i would hate to ruin one of my rides w/ a heel bruise, which in turn would keep me from riding a few weeks after.

No Problem Joe. I am all good with your statement. thanks though, i do appreciate it.

I understand being bumbed with a heal bruise. not fun at all. luckily i have not had one since early 2000's, when all companies started making thicker foootbeds and other advancements. there is a boot for just about every foot type and situation. ive heard of a sprain as a result of too much padding on the sole. the bed compressed to the point that support was lost, so for that person a firmer bed was better for example.

Maketing is actually quite welcome for me. sometimes all i can do is read descriptions, reviews, etc. I would have to drive 5 hours or more to see any large variety and most current gear... or just fork out the $ and check it out then make do or sell it. demoing is quite out of my area unfortunately. BUT i do get to live near powell for the sacrifice. But with that said, Lake Powell Marine is the bomb and does very well to represent the small town of Page Arizona Lake Powell

you, me, and everyone else will just have to wait and see for themselves what these boots (and all other gear) is like. and see what our similar but very different and unique feet and styles have to say about the fit.

I still don't get the "system". Did you see the prices for those and the boots? Damn man, your gonna spend almost $500, and that doesn't even have the board to attach them too. Crazy.

I said it before, and I'll say it again, wakeboarding isn't snowboarding, please stop trying to turn it into snowboarding.

@ B Poser: well 170+ 300= 470$ and you will probably get them cheaper. Thats so much cheaper than any other high end boot in europe. (Ronix Relik Cell one bindings are about 540 $ list price.)
Well the hyperlite Boots are 50 $ more expensive than last year ...ok but i bet you will get the boots and the bindings in a set for the same price you got the boots last year (420$) and its great for people who share boards they just have to buy 2 Boots 1 binding 1 board. Plus if they really last longer 50 $ is nothing we should talk about.
You dont even have to buy them !!!

I really want to hear rider feed back regarding the snowboard style strap in binders..... I feel like you will lose quite a bit of energy going from a one piece boot to a two piece system. Now instead of energy being transfered directly to the board, you're applying pressure to the boot, which applies pressure to the straps, which will transfer your energy to the board. I dunno, I'm skeptical. Looks like a great way to make extra $$.....

@Esteban: where should "energy" go? Its not the goal to have the stiffest boot so I don't see why this should be negative.

Yea for sure Mark. The Vantages on the S4 would be an awesome ride. Might have to look into that... I have the 09 Sovens on my S4 right now, but I'm not crazy about the new Sovens. They would look nasty after a couple rides at my local lake. I think the Watsons look pretty decent too.

the green board is the decade. the white board below it is the new josh sander's board, the format. totally new shape for 2011. it is really light weight due to wood stringers in the core.
