It's still not as good as I want but the boat lives out side all year with a cover that doesn't protect the black at all. I bought a 3m foam Black pad and slowed the speed on the buffer all the way down. But it still leaves a resedue of finesse on the hull. I have to come back and rub it off by hand.

Left side of the pic is wet sanded and the right side of the pic is all the way to wax.

^^^ Looks good^^^^

3M hand glaze will make blacks blacker and colors richer. It will do a great job at finishing up your polish job. And also you MUST wax right over hand glaze because it has no lasting power with out wax over the top of it

Hey Grant, wanted your advice. Can I get away with using my Porter Cable DA for this or do i need to go out and buy a dedicated buffer/polisher?

Just have some question about wet sanding my Calabria and didn't want to start a whole new thread when this one is so good. My question with my oxidation, what grit would you recommend starting with. I have buffed and polished but never wet sanded a boat. I feel I have what it takes to tackle this project this spring. I also have deep scratches on the bottom of the boat from beaching (I would never beach my boat) but someone before me did. Do these scratches look like they could be removed with heavier grit sandpaper? Any help and I'd really appreciate it.

the thing about gel restoration is you want it to look even but not go through the color, so really you could use the same 1500 grit but just spend a little more time in the worst spots. I did my whole boat and it came out great, but a few years later and i have some oxidation creeping back, even with always wiping down and waxing my boat. Its pretty easy to touch up the spots that came back. The bottom of your boat is rough, i don't think sand paper is removing those completely, maybe just reduce the look of them. I'd do 1000 with a spray bottle of water to keep it lubricated and pay close attention- go for an improvement not a 100% fix there. The rest of your boat would be fine with a quick hit of 1500 then follow G's steps imo. Hopefully he'll chime in- hes got a good grasp on a lot of things, and doesn't cut a corner
