We just had a new Proflight tower put on our 2001 centurion bowrider and am wondering what the best brand/types of racks are to install. We are looking for a rack on each side of the tower for wakeboards...we don't need to hold surfboards or skis.
The tower is powder coated black.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Thanks....Is it worth the extra cost for the swivel racks?

I have an 04 bowrider (same boat as yours) with the proflight tower and i wish i had swivel racks. If i was to buy them all over again i'd get the swivel ones without a doubt.

Brian-
Thanks for the tip...I am leaning that way I think....they are just a lot more expensive, but it seems worth it.

Brian-
I think I have seen your boat on tulloch a few times...we are right up the road in Sonora so we are on Tulloch or Melones all the time....

They are definitely more expensive but not as expensive as buying normal racks, regretting it and then buying swivel racks (which is what i'm about to do). You probably have lol i'm at tulloch about 3 times a week during the summer. make it up to melones quite a bit also. Got a pic of your boat?

Good point....I am thinking the samson ones are looking really good.
I don't have a pic of the boat right now..it just had a bunch of upgrades done down at Boat Country in Escalon and is staying there for the winter.
I will add to my profile once we pick it up in April.
It is a white and red one...now has a black tower, and will have a red/black/white bimini soon.
We are usually on Melones (4-5 times a week in the summer and fall)...closer to our house...and less crowded than Tulloch.
We usually head back up river past the bridges and hang out in the canyon...always empty and glassy back there.

NiceRack makes the best swivel racks, hands down. Researched and looked at all of them and these are the best. Five year warranty to boot.

I should elaborate a bit. The swivel mechanism on the NiceRack is superior, including the dual gas shocks to aid in smooth operation when loaded. Second, the rubber inserts are the widest and thickest out there. They will not crush down near as fast as the others. Third, if you look at all other racks middle fingers, you notice its skinnny at the end like the top and bottom fingers. This allows the boards to slap together out at the edges when two boards are in the racks. Very annoying! The NiceRacks have a "bell" design at the end of the middle fingers which eliminates the boards hitting. Nice!

I have a brand new Samson swivel rack for sale. I got it new with my boat, and removed it before using it to make room for my Ski Sky rack. I'll post the link, but if it doesn't work, searh my name.

Meghan,
You cant go wrong with Samson.
All of Samsons stuff is pretty nice. And their customer service is top notch. The engineering on their swivels is user friendly, and by far one of the best designs I have seen.
We just took the Titan swivel racks off of our VLX and replaced them with the new Samson Typhoons.
They are rock solid and we couldnt be happier with our decision.

Not bashing Samson but these are designed better, not as expensive, and 5 year warranty verses 1 year. www.nice-rack.com

Well I have had both the Nice Rack with swivel and the New Samsons with swivels. The Nice Rack is a good rack but if you have a big boat it doesn't work as well as the Samsons. The Nice Racks with swivels do not swivel completely into the boat and they stick out pretty far even when swung into the boat. This was an issue for me as I have a big boat 23ft with a wide beam and the racks would almost hit when going into a shop. The New Samson's swivel completely into the boat so they are not sticking out when going down the road or backing into a garage.

Yeah its too bad others dont follow suit as far as the "bell" end middle fingers like NiceRack. I cant stand the boards clattering when Im running down the delta or lake when its chopped out. Drives me nuts. And those skinny rubber inserts most racks have that are compressed after a summer, I get tired of changing them. NiceRacks are the biggest inserts Ive seen.

How do the Samson's compare to Malibu's Titan Swivel Racks?

Looks like the WakeAir handle the boards hitting by redesigning the inside shape of the fingers, but still have that thin rubber. That rubber needs to be beefy!

I think the Samsons release handle is easier to release the boards to swing them into the boat. The one button to release on the outside of the Titans werent the easiest to work with a rack full of boards.
Both are solid racks.
We are waiting for the rubberized dipped forks for the Samson racks. That was a must with the Titans because of the issues that Sparky described above.

Has anyone used these. They swivel and the mounting point also swivels so they can mount on any bar and still mount level. I have Lightning's board rack and my boards hit. I am looking for 2 that swivel and one that is a solid mount.

How do the typhoons hold up to board chatter since their middle finger is not like nicerack?
