We are headed down for the holiday and I am wondering if any one has words of wisdom or sites to see?

How cold are we talking? The state monitoring web site says the lake is 56 degrees. brett (happy birthday) I have herd the same. That was the main answer I was looking for. Areas to stay away from etc.

Its a great lake, I have a cabin down there on the northwest end of the lake. The water is pretty damn cold this time of year, but a wetsuit should do you just fine, in later July through the end of summer the water is great. As for shallow spots, there are only a couple, just off the the peninsula of Ike Kinswa state park there is shallow that follows off that, and there is some shallow areas around the islands on, but there is a speed limit there anyway. As far as what to see, definitely go up the river and try to see the damn, and there is a lagoon to hang out in if you go up past Ike Kinswa park. All and all its an awsome place.

Thanks Jon. The only reason I have heard about shallow spots is that in 07 I sold an X45 to some kid and that weekend he called me scrambling around needing a prop. It might have been mostly driver error though.

Mayfield is beautiful the lake is fed by a glacier or something so the water is cold but definitely worth riding there. You should head up to Koppert Lake while you're in town too, its not far from there at all, and you can hit some rails and ride in somewhat warmer water.
