They are great boats. Bulletproof. I had one and loved it... there are many, many days I miss it. I had an open bow direct drive X22, don't have any experience with the closed bow E21. Go to epicmarine.com for more info... very tight community with lots of gearheads and good info.

I had that same boat, and just like Cal I miss it from time to time. Sold it to a buddy and all he has done is change the oil and spark plugs and still runs like new. He had to change one of the valve cover gaskets on it and the top end looked brand new. It has 1100 hours on it.

Spread out 1500 lbs of ballast in it and you will have a wake right between a Malibu and a Nautique

Saw a similiar boat parked next to me in the cove this weekend. looked killer, this guys had no tower. Really like the look, clean lines and this one was very well kept. Caught my eye cause i thought it was a new epic. haha. then i saw Toyota accross the back

The Epic 21 is a pretty good wake boat, it is really too big to be a real hardcore ski boat. The wake is almost identical to my 22 ft open bow Epic. They had an optional ballast system and tower "boarding package"

You will not be able to burn a tank of gas in a day on the lake. It sips gas.

I have seen them going for mid to low teens, that's a lot of boat for the money.

i have never been in one, so i could not say. if you like it after the test ride, go for it. could end up being a great ride for you.

nice to see a proud moomba owner. i am sure you like your boat and are glad to have one. we chose a moomba last year after looking 2 years, we love it and have not regretted our choice!

Shane I saw this today also. You going to take it for a spin or ride behind it?
Old     (cyclonecj)      Join Date: Jul 2001       07-21-2009, 3:29 PM Reply
You can fit three full 580 lb sacks in the trunk. Danny Harf told me himself that he did that with his x22 when he rode for Toyota. You can fit at least two up front.

Take it for a spin. You'll be impressed with the Toyota Epic. (I speak from experience.)

Hahaha. A 21 year old says that? I could see it from a 15 year old who lacks maturity, but a 21 year old? Come on bro, grow up and don't get so offended by a little joke. Smile and laugh a little, you'll feel better when you do.

+ I rode a Toyota V-Drive (not sure on the exact model) about 8 years ago and remember liking it a whole lot. From what I remember, they were the most fuel efficient boats at one point. Correct me if I am wrong.
Old     (phenom_1819)      Join Date: Jan 2008       07-21-2009, 4:07 PM Reply
As far as I know, most fuel eficient wake boats I've seen at ANY point... mine regularly burned around 3 gph with added ballast on top of stock ballast. It was great -- mine had only a 26-gallon tank and I think we killed a full tank maybe one time in four years...? Very fuel-efficient and reliable. I sold mine with 700 hours and never had a single mechanical problem.

Toyotas were great boats. The only thing I would be cautious of with that boat is the closed bow. It will make resale a lot tougher.

Also keep in mind that they are only going to make replacement parts for like ten years or so and its got to be pushing that by now.Of course they don't break much.

The motors are just like a Lexus right?

now if you can imagine dropping the 5.7l in them they would really have some power.

i've got one in my 07 sequoia and the suv will fly.

4.0 v8 not 4.7 like tundra fame
Old     (hehateme)      Join Date: Sep 2008       07-21-2009, 7:46 PM Reply
4.0 is not a V8.
4.7 was the only V8 Toyota made.
5.7 is not an option in'07 Sequoia.

1UZ motor 4.0 DOHC (Quad Cam) v8, no lack of power probably outperform an iron pushrod 350 and use half the fuel.

A friend of mine had one in his Soarer, incredible motor, that thing was a rocket.

Also they like to rev, like most Japanese motors, but 8 throttle bodies is a bit over the top.

BTW, that boat looks sick and all I've heard is good things about them.

I was thinking of the current 4.0 thats a V6. Either way, plenty of power.

Toyota's apparently still making boats. Check this site for some photos (and more if you know Japanese):

Also, here's a video someone posted of a 1UZ V8 engine found in the Toyota Epic:

Can these wakes get really big without washing out? How much is to much weight for a Toyota SX22?

There is a guy on our lake that has one and it throws a great wake. Plus the motor in that boat is awesome and very quiet. I would like to have the motor as an option for my boat.
