Agreed. We don't even need both Clemente AND Pullen to be on at the same time... just one scoring in double digits would be fine.

McGruder is gonna grow up before our eyes and become a major contributor I feel like! Samuels and Kelly have been unreal!

I really believe we will be a better team next year. I just don't think losing Clemente is going to hurt that much.

I see MU didn't come to play last night either... I guess they only brought 10 of the fastest 40 minutes in basketball. whoops

I don't know if KU will go back to 1. If I had to rank them I'd rank it Syracuse, KU, Nova, UK. But if KU wins at KSU on Saturday then I'd agree that KU goes to 1.

Did you guys watch that game? Wow, that Downey was insane.

I watched the last 10 minutes and that Downey kid was unreal. He just kept hitting big shot after big shot.

Welcome back to Big 12 play Mr Pullen! McGruder had 10 big points for us last night. Cats are going to have to do a better job of driving to the bucket and getting to the foul line to have a shot at beating KU Saturday. Should be a fun game!

Agreed Downey was a sniper last night!

I was bummed we didn't get the KSU game here last night. Looks like it was a good game.

Great win for VT tonight. Came back after being down 10+ at our rivals house without our best post player (ejected on a BS call) and won in OT. Go hokies

Ya know Nick if we add up all the nights we do things that take years off our lives we're coming dangerously close to death here in the next 5-10 years! RedBull and Vodka night at SkiNFreezin took a good 10 years off!
Old     (bbeach)      Join Date: Jul 2002       01-31-2010, 7:22 AM Reply
Well I'd be lying if I said putting an "L" next to last nights game wasn't hugely disappointing... Did I think Reed fouled Sutton on his last drive in regulation? YES... Did I think Judge fouled Collins on his last drive in OT, NO... But hey the Cats had plenty of other opportunities to win that game and they didn't. That game was HUGELY entertaining to watch, I almost felt physically exhausted afterward (granted a 6 pack of Guiness might have led to that).

Sherron Collins is a special player. Jacob Pullen is a special player. Glad we have ours one more season! Now onto the rest of the B12 play! I'm seeing some serious NCAA Tourney action for these two teams!
Old     (kstateskier)      Join Date: May 2002       01-31-2010, 8:22 AM Reply
I was whipped too! If one of those plays were a foul, they both were. At the end of reg I could understand not calling it, as you hate to see a ref decide the game, but that's exactly what happened on the Sherron call, so in the end I believe it was BS. Overall the game was called well though.

Seems like we both still hate each other, but seems to be some respect from KU players and coaches finally.

Beach, you notice Clemente out there. He was smacking refs asses, etc. Pretty sure coach told him to keep it clean and not club Reed in the back of the head this year!

Bram was rockin, wish I was there.

ESPN has definately bought into the Octagon of Doom! Wish we could have had JamSam the last couple of minutes. That boy is intense!!!

That had to be a long day for those that went to GameDay. Who knows when they started lining up. When I was out there and we played Nebraska in football in '98, we lined up about 4:45am for GameDay, I was walking the streets of Aggieville at 2am savoring that victory. Wish those guys could have got the win, it would have made the long day more worthwhile.

Kansas has to start shooting better from the line. If it wouldn't have been for some lane violations (cough, cough K-State players getting pushed into the lane by Morris) it would have cost them the K-State game.

Beach, our schedule is VERY friendly from here on out. We should be a favorite in every game but KU at Lawrence. It's time this team shows they can take care of business.

We passed pouring a while ago : ) I am hoping we are saving it all for Duke on Wednesday. The boys are out in left field though. Thank god I was at Snowshoe Mountain this weekend or I might have killed myself. It is much better to watch your team lose by watching the score run on the bottom of ESPN then it is on TV. Kansas/Texas tonight though. At least I will have something worth watching.

One of two things is going to happen tonight.

Option A.) KU continues to play well and Texas continues to chuck ducks and Texas gets run out of their own fancy gym...

Option B.) Texas figures out how to shoot FT's again, Anderson, James, Balbay and Pittman snap out of their funk and knock KU off in Austin...

Option A is probably more likely but here's wishing for Option B!

I scored a ticket for the UNC/Duke game tonight. As a Tarheel fan, I could have picked a better year to attend this game, but I would never pass up a reasonable opportunity to catch this rivalry in person.

if UNC wasn't on the jersey, they might not even make the NIT! This is even worse than the Matt Doherty years!!

They are DEFINITELY in a tail spin. UNC made that game ugly enough to still be in it with 5 minutes left. Oh well, NC State on Saturday at home. Maybe we can get another win there.

Sucks for ed davis, but this UNC season couldnt make me happier. Giant grin on my face every time I think of how the tar holes have fallen. Just hope it continues next year. More importantly though, I hope VT doesnt get the shaft and gets into the tourney. They are playing very well right now.

VT's RPI of 54 probably won't get them in, especially with the SOS of 170ish. They will need a good run in the ACC tourney to position them for a spot. At large teams probably need a top 40 RPI to get in. K-State got shafted last year with a 22-10 record, 10-6 in a tough Big 12.

VT is 0-1 vs. the Top 25 and as funny as it is, the loss at UNC will really sting.

NIck H, youre right...out OOC schedule is killing us. We did extremely well (13-1, only loss to a good Temple team) but when the toughest OOC opponents are Georgia and Seton Hall, it doesnt do much. However I think we are doing pretty well in conference. 6-3 is good. I know the ACC is "down" this year but only in the sense of the top 3 teams. The middle and bottom of the conference are strong as ever, probably stronger in the middle. I feel like if we finish in the top 6, or definitely top 5 theres no way the committee could keep us out. The key will be winning vs Wake, Duke, or MD. Any of those would be big and give us that extra boost.

We have to shoot the ball better consistently from both the line and 3 pt. range if we even want to get to the 8. We have way too many "dry spells" from Clemente and Pullen to go deep. Now if the bigs, Pullen, and Clemente could put together a 4+ game run in the tournament, watch out. Can't wait for the Jayhawk rematch. Heres to four meetings this year between the Kansas teams! How sweet would a KU v. K-State Final Four matchup be!

Adam, if VTs luck is anything like my Wildcat's, they will pick UNC over you!

That was a great game. And I will be the first to admit that it looked like the officials were a little pro-KU. That technical foul call was horrible. Sloan was on fire in the first half. Great game for KU to win with Collins playing horribly.

Its absolutely mind boggling to watch the referees in this league protect Cole Aldrich... Did you know that he's only fouled out of one college game in his career at KU? ONE... yeah think about for just a minute... (it was Texas last week FYI).

There were 4 instances of fouls on Aldrich that weren't called. The biggest was when he whacked Dash Harris sending him to the deck, thought Harris was probably dead there. The other 3 instances the refs gave the fouls to one of the many Morris children. Had they correctly assigned the fouls I think it could have changed the 2nd half offensively for A&M... But KU pulled out an ugly win on the road, can't fault them for that - A&M didn't capitalize on alot of offensive possessions, especially in the final 4 minutes...

I hate talking about referees after a game, but since Ian brought it up I thought I'd go ahead and toss a little gas on!
Old     (marshk344)      Join Date: Jun 2005       02-16-2010, 7:57 AM Reply
Didn't want to come on here whining, but it was a little obvious. I thought the foul on Dash could have been a flagrant. There were several times when Musburger and Knight had to say they would tell us who the foul was on after the timeout because the refs would just pin it on a random person.

Credit KU for playing defense and knocking down FT's when in counted though. If Lebeau, Sloan, and Davis could have done the same with about 5 minutes remaining it would have made it pretty difficult for KU to come back. All in all, still a great game. You have to love the energy and atmosphere last night. Makes the game twice as exciting.

The final 7/8 minutes if memory serves... You're telling me that in 8 minutes of a D1 college rivalry game that a five didn't foul once?!???

He did foul out at TX FYI. Clemente is such a stud, i'll be rooting for KSU all through the tourney if/until they play KU.

Howell, i have to just eat it up this year man... UNC might not even make the NIT!!! Way to defend the title!

Cats win another one on the road... Their poise on the road has been the difference maker this season I believe and it all seemed to start 2nd half way back at UNLV! Pullen was all man last night! March 3rd is comin up quick, gonna be a great game between #1 and #6! Lots of good ball goin on in the state of Kansas this season!

yeah but will it be televised? The game hasn't been picked up except by the Big 12 Network which of course I do not get and isn't in most packages (that I am aware of).

Pullen was the man last night. I can't wait till March 3rd. You guys are playing better than when you did our first meeting but I think we are too. Should be a fantastic game.

On another note, did you see this?

I think the Buckeye's have at least guaranteed a share of the regular season share or out right(if Purdue loses?) with tonight's win over Illinois. I really hope ET comes back for his senior next year.

Maybe Mizzou will decide to bring their 40 minutes of basketball against KU this weekend!

Don't overlook the Big 12 game of the year tonight - #2 KU vs #5 KSU which no one will be able to watch because it's not on the major ESPN networks. And no way ET comes back. But he sure is good. I thought they said last night that OSU clinched at least a share of the B10 title.
Old     (dave23)      Join Date: Nov 2006       03-03-2010, 6:51 AM Reply
Wow that is a crock of **** that ESPN isn't picking that game up. I make a comment about Mizzou showing up for 40 minutes and they have to go into overtime to beat Iowa State. One of my coworkers can't understand why they are unranked and tOSU is in the top ten. Not that winning the Big Ten(at least a share of it) means anything. If Purdue(12-4) loses one of their next two games, then tOSU(14-4) will win the regular season conference title.

Good luck in the tourney guys. That game was a lot closer than the score reflects. I hope KSU can stay competitive for years to come. As long as KSU isn't in the same bracket as KU (which I'm sure will not happen), I'll have a hard time not putting them in the final four.

I don't get how some commentators are even thinking about talking about letting her play again this year. IMO, that was worse than any of the others this year (Lobos soccer player, Blount), and the teammates reactions need to be dealt with too. She's not sorry, and I don't think she ever will be, but because she's huge with a lot of potential she'll get it easy.

A-Dub, what you don't get to see is the other person(the girl she swung at) try and throw her to the ground. It's nowhere near as bad as Blount(he snapped over someone taunting him), IMPO.

We just haven't shot it well the last 3-4 games. Our guards can't hit a three if their life depended on it. K-State seems to live and die by the three lately. Last night ISU was in foul trouble down low and we just didn't push it in there. Absolutely no excuses last night, we had all the breaks from the refs and just couldn't get a W. Now saying that, if Pullen and Clemente get hot during the tournament and we can get some decent play out of the frosh, McGruder and Judge, look out.

Ian, you been on any of the K-State message boards today? I was over at the Scout board and it is fairly obvious that most of our fans are still suited for football. They are all under the impression 1 loss pretty much does you in. I had to shut the computer, as I couldn't stop laughing at the doomsday attitudes. I'll be the first to admit that our fanbase has more bandwagon warriors than almost any other...
