Got a question for all you ford people! I have a 2015 Ford Expedition Limited that is my primary tow vehicle. It did not come with the factory load leveling rear suspension. Looking on the ford website it seems like it was only a $280 option. I have heard that the only difference in the load leveling and non load leveling suspension are the type of shocks and that it is not an air system or any type of electronically controlled system and being a $280 upgrade seems to support this. Supposedly they use some special shock known as a nivomat shock. My question is is this accurate and if so, can I purchase these from the ford dealers parts house and just swap out my rear shocks?

My service advisor seems to think it cannot be done but I thought we had a ford salesmen on here who may know more. I don't trust my service advisor knows what he is talking about.

2015 does not have load leveling. The option was for electronically adjustable shocks for different ride qualities. You would have to add a VDM, height sensors wiring and the shocks. Still will not be load leveling.

It was most definitely an option in 2015. The electronically adjustable ride control was for the 22" rim option and was not available with the load leveling rear suspension due to be two different types of shocks from my understanding.

Load leveling was not a standard feature but was optional if you did not have the 22" rims with electronically adjustable ride control

And what is VDM?

Look here for info on suspension help for independent rear suspensions. I have them on my Sequoia and it keeps my SUV level with the boat on.
