I am looking to buy my first wakeboard boat and would like some input. I have found an 05 VLX with 250 hrs priced for 35,000. I have also found an 06 LSV with 45 hrs for 29,000. Both boats are comparably equiped and in great condition. Is the Malibu worth the extra bucks?

Yeah, as long as they are in comparable shape.

Do yourself a favor and find a dealer with a left over 2009 LSV. You will be amazed by the prices.

I own an 07 LSV and love it. But the wake on the VLX is pretty darn good.

But I don't think it is 6k better. With the extra money you could do a lot of upgrades to the Moomba.
Test drive them both and go with your gut.
I have put almost 200 hrs on my boat since I got it in May of 08, I run it heavy usually and it has not given me any problems.

The one funny thing I find about owning a Moomba is until ppl ride my boat they want no part of it. Sure it is not built as plush as a Malibu, I'll give you that. But it does everything I've needed it to do and more. And when I'm on the end of the rope the wake is as good as any boat I've ridden. Not the biggest wake ever but a good size and good shape.

If you live close to Sacramento Cal I will give you a pull behind it and let you check it out.

Good Luck

The Moomba throws a good wake. I rank it right up there with all the top performers if weighted properly. Get the boat that is the best value to you.

i have 07 lsv and i put an integrated bow sac under front seats plus stock 1200. wake is as good as anything i have ever ridden behind. both powered by indmar. malibu maybe a little plusher. lsv is the #1 selling wakeboard boat. probably combination price and excellent wake. the blade tower on bu is sexy though

just like jeff said - funny thing about owning the LSV is that once your friends ride it, they want more. this includes my buddies that own a wakesetter, xstar, x2. like paul said, if weighted properly, the lsv will throw a nasty wake. its different than others, but alot of fun to ride. o ya, and with that extra cash, you can make the upgrades to make it the baddest boat on the lake, or just pocket it! highly recommend the moomba.

I think the most important thing is to make sure you go spend time in both. Aside from the wake, there are a lot of other differences that may/may not matter to you. I was set on an 08 LSV. Test drove an 07 and 08 a few times and it's a real nice boat at a great price. There were a few things from an interior comfort perspective on the moomba that irked me...and I didn't notice they bothered me until I went for a test drive in several other boats. We wound up getting an amazing deal from a closing dealer on an 08 22ssv. Take your time a really look around. There are some amazing deals to be had.
